Trails are well marked and groomed. The campground is primitive and small. There's a narrow lane to get to the campground, and it would be difficult for two trailers to pass one another. Trails range from somewhat rocky and steep to grassy loops. There's a few bridges and creek crossings. Good view of the Turkey River. There's a port-a-potty at the equestrian campground which is also day parking. Plenty of hitching posts and picnic tables. Unsure if there is a place to get water.

Great campground! Large sites and nice shower house facility. Good place for kids. The arena and obstacle trail are a really nice feature. It kept our 10 and 11 year old girls occupied when we were not out on the big trails. Stalls, bunk house and lodge were really nice as well. You must stall your horses and the main area is a long walk but they have a new area that stalls are right next to you sites which I prefer in lieu of keeping horse at your site. We rode the 10 mile loop and it had really good footing, a few rocky areas and climbs as well as a short stretch on a gravel road. We did encounter two groups of hikers and they were very respectful and helpful when I had a mule having a slight meltdown over their packs. All in all, good experience. Owners are first rate and will make your stay enjoyable.

3 metal pipe corrals (in the open & wind ) 2 very nice permanent high lines in place. Better location in weather. Nice grassy camp areas around trees by a decent size steam. Good gravel parking for large trailers. No facilities. Limited cell service. Well maintained trails !!!!

Volga Lake Recreational Area  - Fayette, IA

Haven't ridden there in a bit but hike there often. The equestrian campgrounds have been updated to have water now. The trails are well-groomed, and the trail maps are easy to read. There's lots of flat trails, some more challenging trails with hills, and multiple stream crossings. There's also an equestrian day use area with hitching posts. Trails are well-marked for the most part. Most trails are dirt or sand. There are some rocks on some of the hills, but overall, not rocky.

I am the Vice President of Oregon Equestrian Trails. I live about 45 minutes away from LL Stub Stewart yet I camp there at least 2 times a year and ride there very often. This is the only full hookup horse camp in Oregon. Electric, water and sewer. O.E.T. preps the horse camp each year for the beginning of the season. We work hard to educate all users on these multi user trails!

There are many wonderful horse camps across the country. A few of them are special. Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is that special camp that you can call home. Kevin and Janet Davis have built a camp that features excellent camp sites, roomy and secure stalls. A pavilion with fireplace serves as a cozy dining hall and entertainment center. The camp staff is attentive to your every need. Need help finding a farrier, veterinarian or mechanic? Kevin and crew have you covered. Check out the weekend and week long rides at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Because the camp attracts great people you’ll make new and life long friends. Plus the trail system offers something for every level of rider. These days I spend a lor of time riding out West. But I make a pilgrimage back to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Its worth the trip.
