This place is great. There are 17 horse sites with a showerhouse in the same section where the horse camp is. About half of the sites are shadded and the other side are not shadded. Sites have elec hookup but there is only one water spout for all horse campers to share. In my opinion site 7,9,11,13 are the best then I would go for 1,3,5,15 (sites are pretty level on blacktop). Poles are installed for high lines but you have to bring your own lines. Reservations will be needed on holiday weekends. It was dry when we went and there were still a few pretty muddy spots. I love the trails mostly wooded and feel barefoot is ok as long as your horse is used to barefoot. Ours chipped a little but not bad at all.

This park has a nice variety of trails for all levels of horse and rider. Although there isn't much in the way of fantastic scenery, there are a few places that make nice spots to stop for a snack break, like The Old Harrison Place and The Overlook. There is a new water pump in the Special Events field by the day area. Be warned that the trails here are extremely muddy through most of the year, and be careful of holes caused by runoff and tree roots. The 32 mile loop around the lake is a wonderful day ride. There is also a paved pedestrian/bike trail currently under construction. Horses will not be permitted on the new trail, though it will cross the existing horse trails several times so be on the lookout for cyclists and other users.
