Trail Description Extensive systems of interconnected trails, some along gravel roads, others along unused forest roads. Many single-width trails. Very popular area.

Campground A small campground for the use of equestrians. Locates at the start of an extensive system of bridle trails. Camp amenities include hitching posts, fire rings, picnic tables, pit toilets. There is no fee for camping here, but be advised that this is a primitive campground.

Directions From CT Route 198, approx 3 miles south of US 44, turn east into Natchaug State Forest. Follow the forest entrance road over the Natchaug River bridge and up a hill to a fork in the road. Turn right following a sign for the horse camp and follow the gravel road approx. 1 mile to the campground entrance on the left.

 Easy
(Gently sloping or level terrain; trails are groomed or wide open; shallow or no creek crossings. ) 
 More Difficult (Moderate hills over consistent surface; possibly some narrow trails and short steeper slopes) 
 Rigorous (Easy to More Difficult for rider but physically challenging for horse such as on a level surface through deep sand) 
 Challenging (Possible rocky, uneven surface, steep slopes, uncleared trails, faster flowing streams and other obstacles that lead to more difficult riding for rider and horse)
