Mammoth Cave Maple Springs Campground  - Mammoth Cave, KY

Mammoth cave Horse Camp was one of the best camps I have ever rode in. The camp post, Janet and Kevin Davis took care of our every need. The McCoy Trail was my favorite, but it is very technical. The Raymer Trail was also one of my favorites and the best maintained, I would highly recommend this camp and I plan to return again

Very family friendly atmosphere. Easy checking in. Clean bath houses. Private shower stalls. Very close to multiple attractions if you take the free Green River Ferry. Stalls were nice size. Wheel barrels and forks supplied. Water was easily accessible along with four wash racks. We really enjoyed Chris and staff and they were very attentive to our needs. Very well marked trails but inquire before you head out!!

Kevin and the camp host ( I cannot remember his name) are fantastic. It's a laid back place and we like it that way. We go at least twice a year. The upper campground (Section B) needs a little TLC. The road is washing out and the ruts are deep, the stalls have drainage issues. Nothing some drain tiles and some gravel won't fix. We will definitely continue to go back.

Some trails are rocky, and a tender-footed horse would appreciate shoes. Trails are well-marked, and some are wide. There are ample opportunities for water crossings. The day use area does not have a lot of shade and does not have water. Some of the equestrian campgrounds do not have close access to water.

Nice pens for the horses, water hydrants are plentiful and handy, hoses are provided near the pens. The trails are wide and well groomed. There are both electrical and non electric sites for camping. Pull through camping sites are easy to access with large rigs. Two porta pots located in the campground. A really nice day use area is available with both pens and tie rails. The real star is a permanent obstacle course that is set up for everyone to use. It is complete with a narrow bridge, a teeter-totter, pyramid, car wash, and more! There is also a small arena to work a young horse or to let your beginner rider have a chance to gain some confidence before taking to the trails. This park is a real jewel! Many thanks to the Back County Horseman, the parks equestrian committee, and other volunteers that put in so many hours making it special!

Trails are well marked and groomed. The campground is primitive and small. There's a narrow lane to get to the campground, and it would be difficult for two trailers to pass one another. Trails range from somewhat rocky and steep to grassy loops. There's a few bridges and creek crossings. Good view of the Turkey River. There's a port-a-potty at the equestrian campground which is also day parking. Plenty of hitching posts and picnic tables. Unsure if there is a place to get water.
