Great place to ride if you like the more natural single-track through forest trails, which are becoming increasingly more difficult to find. There are, however, wider trails mostly around the perimiter of the park and its meadows which any level of rider should enjoy. The adundance of interior trails which criss-cross between the wider trails are more challenging with mud, downfalls, creeks, climbs(some steep/rocky) and overgrowth for those like myself and friends who enjoy the interesting and natural game type trails. Kudos to the club responsiblefor doing a wonderful job without backhoes and bobcats, and to the park personnel who understand that not all horse trails need be bridle paths and that natural single track trails are far more sustainable and lower in cost and man hours to maintain, let alone have far less impact on nature itself! The camp itself is primitive but nicely maintained as well, with an arena for riders' use. Sites are generally spacious and available on a first come basis, but you should call first and make sure there is no large club event scheduled. Worth a weekend! |
