I've ridden at HCSNA for years. It's a fantastic place to ride and can accommodate all levels of riders. The trails are marked by number and difficulty. You are given a map when you check in. The pasture trails (2A, 2B,2C) are dirt and grass. The first half of trail 1 is easy. All the rest of the trails require boots or shoes because of various combinations of packed caliche, gravel, and rock. Most trails are fairly level or with some hills plus areas of stepping up/down rock shelves. But there are also trails out there where you need to ride a mountain goat to get up them! The views are fantastic and the riding is wonderful. You can easily spend a whole weekend out there and only do a few trails. This is a great place to ride. For camping, there is a limited amount of camp spots so reservations are required. There are two lodges/cabins that can be rented. The biggest one comes with a house, barns, pens, corrals, paddocks, several pastures, and an arena. Cost is only $500 for the whole weekend so if you come with a group, it is easy to split the cost between everyone. |
