It was my first time at Anita Alta and I will say I loved the trails, thought they were the perfect challenge level for my horse, and loved that there were no rocks! Maps were great and trails were marked well. We dont enjoy the "organized trail rides" but we like to have some socialization.. we were the only ones there in late April. Camp ground was gorgeous but we were pretty bored with no one to talk to. Some of the day riders came up and told us it was always pretty quiet there, so if thats your thing.. your in luck! I would rather travel the distance and go to Ivanhoe, VA instead

Paved access roads to campground area. Beautiful scenery. A variety of well marked trails. A good trail map is available. Nice camping areas. No hookups. Bring your highline or portable corral. Easy access to creeks for horses. Friendly people. Great Trail Riding!

I loved riding with the BRHA group. The people are great and the campground is very clean, and well mowed, every time I have been to the site. Its only about 15 mins from Wal-mart so if you should forget anything, you can unhook and drive to town. You can get to a small store in about 5 mins. Most of the campsites back up to Mulberry Creek, and a pond for fishing is on site. The bath houses are clean as well as the grounds. I can't say enough to express what a great group the BRHA is. Go check it out for yourself.

Camping area clean and very nice. I loved that the creek runs behind some of the camping area. Pavilions are also clean and nice. Trails shaded and alot of areas for horses to drink water. Really enjoyed riding and camping. Beautiful views.

Great place to ride and camp; Lots of shaded trails and plenty of water for horses. Campground is clean and very large, plenty of room for any size rig on good level ground. most camping spots back up against Mulberry Creek! Picnic pavilions and bathrooms and hot showers are also available. Trails are well marked with different colors and trails maps are available for $2.00. Best kept secret in North Carolina!!!

Easy access via paved roads. Large open grassy fields to primitive camp with your horses alongside a large trout stream. Highline posts available for tying horses or you can set up a portable corral. Water for horses readily availble from creek, and potable water is available at the picnic pavilions, etc. Trails are nice and shady, as they traverse through the mountains. There are some steep sections, but mostly follow old logging roads. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy God's awesome creation with your horse and friends. The Blue Ridge Horsemen's Association has done a tremendous amount of work during the last year to open the trails. Thanks to all of the BRHA members.
