The Natural Gait is a pretty nice place to stay and either camp or sleep in a cabin. The cabins are beautiful and rustic, and The Natural Gait is so spaced out that it seems like there's no one there but you. There's an indoor arena, an outdoor arena, a mercantile, a kitchen/reception room, and a viewing arena for the arena. The Lower Gait has barns with stalls with small runs, one in a barn, and one behind the arena. The Upper Gait has covered corrals. What I did not like about The Natural Gait, though, is that it seemed expensive compared to other places. The trails are wonderful, with river crossings and some hills. However, The Natural Gait lost the use of many of their trails that they rented from the DNR. You could ride their trails for MAYBE the day, but that's stretching it. I'm not sure how many miles of trails they actually have left. This made me rate the trails a 2 though. The trails are a little rocky, and I had my horse front shod just to be safe, but a hard-hoofed horse should be fine. You could trailer out to the Yellow River Forest for the day, which is about 20 miles away I believe. Otherwise, you could be content to play in the arenas and on the trails. Very clean grounds. Beautiful place to ride. Went with family members (one is 3 years old) and a few others whom are not very expierienced riders and they did just fine on the trails. Groomed trails were great. A lot of wildlife to see. Owners and staff were very friendly and willing to help if needed. Owner stopped by to see if things were going well. During the week is definetly a good time to go if you don't like crowds. We stayed in a cabin with air/heat, running water, linens and towels provided. Upper gait the place to stay with stalls directly across from the cabins and camp grounds. Water near stalls. Great time! Will definetly go back.

we stayed in a cabin at the Natural Gait and had a WONDERFUL experience. Very private, very quick. During the week we were the only people there. The entire campground is so clean and well maintained. The owners stopped to talk with us while we were fishing and were very friendly. We can't wait to go back! Also the trails were amazing, very well maintained and the river crossings were awesome. Wide crossings with rock/ gravel so no mud!

Worth the trip! Trails might be a bit challenging and intimidating for a beginner, however, if you are with experienced riders; probably will be fine. The trip through the river a real experience. This is a beautiful place, forget you are still in the midwest, hilly and scenic. The camping facilities (cabins) are first class. This was worth the trip and money, went three years in a row with friends. Some of the best riding experiences I have ever had. Warning- make sure your horse is in good shape!

This is the nicest campground with the best trails that we have been to. Very beautiful scenery, extremely well maintained trails, lots of water crossings if you want. The facilities are fantastic!
