Our first stay at The Settlement and we will go back. We stayed in our LQ trailer and there are full hookups, though no dump station (5 miles down the road for $10). 6 sites and we were the only ones over a weekend and if all were being used it could be a bit snug in camp. 3 paddocks for guests and our horses were in new stalls very close to our trailer. 15 minute hack to the trailhead into the park. Excellent riding, many waterfalls, up and down though we would not term rigorous. Carol, the manager, was helpful and offered to ride out with us. We did not take her up on that due to timing and we found the trails very well marked.

Nice clean campground, only 6 sites, Carol is very nice & helpful, she ride the trails, also. no sewer hook up, they do have a sewer dump service, that's comes once a week, did not know until we were leaving, we stayed a week, not sure the cost. Panel pens & 3 turn outs for your horses. Access to the trails from the campground, trails in the Great Smokies are great, very well marked & clear. Trails are also for hikers & bicyclist. Once I get my horse used to bikes, I would go back again.

Accommodations for the horses are wonderful- everything from large pastures, corrals, or stalls in a barn are available. For human visitors there is a campground with hookups as well as inexpensive rooms in a ranch house. The trails in the National Park are very well marked, although they can occasionally get temporarily blocked by fallen trees. Most of the trails are absolutely spectacular, but very rigorous. In fact I found them terrifying at first (being from the lowcountry), but by the end of the first day I found I could trust my horse implicitly. Trails are also shared by hikers and bikers, but the ones we met were very polite and caused absolutely no problems.
