We've ridden Elba twice now. The trails to the left when you enter the trail head are marked blue. These are much more steep and difficult than the yellow and orange trails which are to the right and straight ahead. It's not well marked but if you stick to what looks to be the main trail line, you probably won't get lost as it circles back around eventually. We took a compass just to have a general idea of direction and it helped both times. I would suggest at least one or two of the people and horses in the group have trail experience if you go out. Not for a group of total beginners or green trail horses. The blue trails are much harder if your horse is not used to steep hills or is not in really good condition. Orange and yellow seem pretty manageable for all levels. It's really really pretty here. We'll be back.

The trails were excellent and we definitely plan to return. It was a great experience for both us and our horses. I wouldn't recommend these trails for the faint of heart though, they are some of the more difficult trails I've come across in areas. There are a lot of steep hills, steep embankments to each side of the trail, etc. We'll definitely be returning though.

Camping area was okay, it would be tight if all spots were occupied, no trees to park under for shade, just picket posts to back inbetween. Trails were challenging in spots, not well marked, so very easy to get turned around if you don't know the area. They were very hilly, some big mud holes (and it was very dry out) so your horse gets a real good work out. Probably a little dangerous when it rains, so be careful.

Staging area was cut and clean as was the arenas. They have a pump and porta potties. The trails varied from wide to tight. The trail we first went down was nice and remotely flat and weaving in and out of the woods. It was nice. The second time we went out it was a bit testing for the beginner. We went out on the left trail (we had no maps and could not find any online) up and down many hills was taxing on the horse and us. Now if we were conditioned for this it would be more acceptable and fun. I did like all those hill though. Some were very slippery and pock full of horse print which turns everything to muck, so beware. Beware of the roots from the trees too! Overall I will be returning. I had a beautiful ride and the horses liked the first ride out much better than the second, lol. Its a nice close to home place that is a diamond in the rough.

You can ride the same trails here repeatedly and never tire. Some trails easy, through the meadows, and down a closed rd. Others lots more fun, through the hogbacks, up and down hills, through rivers and streams. Deer and turkeys keep things exciting.
