Memorial Day weekend 2015 found us camping with friends at Harden's Camp Tennessee In. for riding in the Hoosier National Forest, Hickory Ridge Trail system. The riding is fantastic through the hardwood forests, hill, and hollars. You are within 5-10 minutes of 3 trail heads, one of those being less than 5.
This is a new campground and the owners Harrison and Bobbie Harden are working hard to make an enjoyable place for trail riders and their horses to stay. the sites are large enough for bigger LQ rigs, most are pull through but some require backing into. Each site has water and electric, there is a dumpster and a couple Port-a-pots for those with out a bathroom in their trailer. Currently there are tie lines for horses with some pens on the north end. Our horses were on the slanted hillside, but in the shade and quite comfortable. Future plans call for covered pens to replace the tie lines.
We were able to purchase annual HNF horse tags when we paid for our camping after arriving on Friday afternoon. Harden's would have liked more tags but were given a limited amount by the Forest Service due to being new. Additional tags were available at the Hoosier Horse Camp about 1/2 mile south.
Bobbie and Harrison were excellent hosts checking with our group to make sure our stay was enjoyable and asking for suggestions on improvements they could make to enhance campers and horses stay.
We will be headed back for sure
