I have been to Camp Creek 2 summers in a row now. It is a favorite of mine, even tho it is primitive camping. There is a peace there you just can't hardly get anywhere else! The sites are well spaced, with tie stalls & small round pen at the sites with fire rings & picnic tables. There is a clear creek that runs behind the camp that is easily accessible for watering your horse or washing them off. The vault toilet is fairly well maintained, and the shower facilities are about a mile away in the main campground and they are very nice. The horse camp is behind a locked gate, which prevents a lot of traffic from wandering in. Trails are very well marked, and the map is easy to read, making navigation pretty easy. They loop & intersect, making for lots of miles to ride....it is a beautiful place to ride & worth the trip!

I would like to enter a 2nd review for camp creek as I have ridden there summer, fall and winter. The trails are well marked and there is a really nice trail map on the camp creek state park website. There are also metal corrals at each of the 15 camp sites. This camp ground was added years ago when they only had ties stalls.

I love riding the trails at Camp Creek State Park! They are both challenging and relaxing with several water crossings. Two waterfalls and beautiful scenery. The Park is well maintained and though I have never camped here, the campsites are nice with fire pits and horse corrals.

Camp Creek State Park is easily located of of interstate 77 at Camp Creek W.V..The campground accomidates up to at least 15 different sites starting to accomidate 2 to 6 horses. Sites are level. Pit toilets. Running stream behind campground, falls below. Wheelbarrow and pitchfork, and occasionally sawdust. Narrow open horsestalls with rubber mats. Firerings. Tables. Very friendly staff. The trails are marked well and follow the map without much room for error. Approximately 35 miles of trails. They vary from rocky trails along the rhodedendrons and stream to ridgetop views. Shoes were helpful. Not all trails suitable for inexperienced trail horeses. This is a beautiful camp and beautiful area of W.V. that many have not seen. This camp is trial basis for a limited time. Please check it out if you would like a nice quiet stay and clean trails. Road to campground is not for large rigs.Narrow at sections. No semi trucks with rigs. Showers are available in the regular camp area, at no cost. This was a good trip and we are planning to return when the flowers are in bloom. The fall view was spectacular.

the trails were beautiful, wonderful, really safe for both horse and rider BUT we (group of 4) had trouble following them, NOT marked well @ all. We spoke to several others who passed our camp site & both people riding horses & ones on bikes ALL said they had trouble because trails were not marked. The camp sites were very nice...would have been so much better if shower facilities were available @ the horse camp sites.

I would recommed Camp Creek to anyone that doesn't mind a bit of primative camping. The campsites are good size and it is so peaceful and quite. There is a locked gate into the horse campground to keep just anybody from riding though the campground at all hours. The Trails are well marked and very easy to ride for any level of horse and rider (I think). You do cross water quite a bit so if your horse doesn't do water you may have problems.
