Very nice camp grounds. Just recently revamped, now has toilets and showers with water for the horses at several places. Great trails, lots of trees, very shady and can ride to the I75 land bridge from here. I will be going back

I just wanted to let everyone know that the campground will be closed as of Feb 29th to bring it into compliance with state standards. The day use area is open.

This place is my favorite place to camp and ride. It now has 4 toilets, horse water, 4-horse wash rack, picnic tables w/fire rings, and about 10 no climb pens. A group of us had a work day there a couple years ago, and greenway and Seminole furnished the rest. We go there often, as it's close to home and so very nice.

We had a great time riding out of Shangrila. One day we rode to Utopia and visited the new campsite on state route 200. It's a class A site with water and electric hook-ups, and posts on which you can install your picket lines. It is also used by non horse people and was pretty full when we visited. There is no shade however. On another day we rode to the I-75 land bridge near Ocala. It's always fun crossing the highway. The horses didn't seem to be the least bit phased by it (see photo). On our third day we trailered over to the Pruitt trailhead. There's no camping there but the riding was a lot of fun. Oh yes, the camp is much improved from the last time we visited. At the Shangrila camp there is now water for the horses, a few paddocks, and wash racks. What an improvement from the last time when we had to bring in our own horse water.

One of the nicests places to ride in Florida. The small hills created when they were dredging for the cross Florida canal back in the 40's and 50's makes for good variety in terrain, which you don't get much in Florida. The campground was absolutely primitive. We even had to bring water for the horses.
