We have a great ride each time we visit Allamuchy Mountain! Use the LEFT trail out of the main parking area (OPPOSITE the very wide gravel trail to the right that leads to other parking areas). The trail is are rocky, sometimes steep, but presents plenty of opportunity to "school" your trail horses (running water, ditches, bridges, wildlife, downed trees, pond/lake) and you can ride for HOURS. We've encountered hikers, and bicyclists, but everyone is very respectful of the horses. Don't pass this up -- give it a try!

High Point State Park can be difficult if your horse isn't used to lots of rocks and hills. Check map for equestrian trails.

Allamuchy State Park is frequented by mountain bikers esp on weekends. The is a unique park, trails can be rocky, hilly not steep terrain. There is the ability to ride the trails in a loop
