My husband and I went to Smyrna Farms camping this past weekend. I had done day rides there before but nothing compares with the serenity and peacefulness of this place after the sun sets. Our host David Rice and his son, Andrew, helped us build a huge bondfire and then entertained us with "growing up southern" stories. The trails are excellent. There are miles of marked and unmarked trails to explore. Some are wide and smooth others are single file, with huge grape-type vines hanging all around so that you feel that you are in am Amazon jungle. Yet another has such breathtaking views of the sun shining through massess of Spanish Moss that we just had to stop and take some pictures. The Carolina Bays (is that the right word?) are very interesting to explore and take pictures of also. Most of the trails are shaded so we are planning to take advantage of this. They will be ridable long after some other non-shaded places have gotten too hot to ride. All in all we had a great time and plan to go back real soon. Like maybe this next weekend coming up!
