This was our first trip to the Walls on horses. We've heard alot about it for several years but didnt ride it til yesterday. We ride TWH/saddle horses and our horses have not had any strenuous riding for almost a year. There were some tough spots and it was a hard pull in some places. Overall, it was an AWESOME ride. Not for the faint of heart, as there was one particular part going down from the TN side that was filled with limestone rocks. We let the horses pick their path, and they did fine. Met some other great people out there. Everyone was very nice. We took our teenage boys who have only done one trail ride before this, and they did fine. You gotta have a good horse that is not spooky, and they will take you all the way. It was exhilirating and wonderful. The scenery was beautiful. We will definitely be back! One side note: i don't recommend taking a quarter horse through there that is not used to a trail ride. We had some friends that use QH's for roping and working cows. One of theirs got down half way up a hill.

The Walls of Jericho was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. We used the stock trailer to haul out from the Circle E, we put 9 horses in there with room to spare. It was about an 8 mile haul from the camp. The valley was incredibly beautiful. There is about a 3 mile ride out of the trail head. A picket line and fire ring were at the part where you have to leave the horses to walk to the Walls of Jericho, about a 2 mile hike! It was very muddy, but we were well prepared, expecting mud since it has rained so much this winter. This was not a trail for the faint of heart, it was along the river with some steep places with drops of over 30 FT and was slippery. It was well worth the trip. The river cut was breathtaking. There was an awesome waterfall at the top of the rocks that cut a huge hole in the rocks and actually broke throught the mountain changing the path of the river. This is mountain riding at it's best. If you don't like rocks, don't ride this trail. My horse goes barefoot, so she didn't have any problems with the rocks. My husbands TWH, who has to wear front shoes, went down on a rock. Those shoes really make it slippery for your horses, IMHO. Part of the horse trail is down an old riverbed, so it is very rocky and you must take your time and let your horse do it's job. We had no problems picking our way down this part of the trail, our horses did great. The kids that were along just hung onto thier saddle horns and thier horses did thier thing. If you want the adventure, it was a great time. We'll be back to do this one again in the summer.

We don't understand the "Pricey", because we only charge $25.00 night camping and $10.00 a stall, We don't charge a trail fee if you stay with us and we also at NO charge have a trailer that you can use to trailer to the Walls of Jerrico. Love to have ALL riders to come enjoy our trails and the Walls.

The trails on the Alabama side and the Tennessee side are in mature hardwoods and drop off the side of the Cumberland plateau. The trail on the Alabama side is less steep but your horse needs to be in good shape. The Tennesse side is steeper and extreamly beautiful. Both trails have nice parking lots with a good gravel base and plenty of room to park big rig trailers. The gravel in the Tenn. parking lot is hard on your horses feet. There is camping at Ray Even's campground, it has every thing a horse man could hope for but it can get pricey. They have cabins, full hook ups for 75 to 100 trailers, a dining hall, really nice baths, and a huge barn. The store down the street sells adult beverages.
