This was the only campground that was not gated at this time of year. The camp ground was great with vault toilets and pump water available. There is a warming hut on site. We rode on two trails but by far the most pleasant was the one that goes around the lake. Even with the lake level low the trail was scenic, well maintained, very easy to ride. There are no corrals for horses, we used a high line on the trees - with a webbed band used on the trees to prevent damage. I'll look forward to going back here!

Trails not clear again this year, but not too bad. Part of the Loop trails is paved now and cars do come around the corner pretty fast. It was better when it was gravel as they went slower and you could hear them coming. the campground itself was not designed by horse people, so is a little tight with horses, rigs and tents. They do have piped water now via a hand pump situated in the middle of camp. Pit toilets. This is still one of my favorite places to camp and ride. After Euer Valley closes, it will be my favorite.

Just got back and it was a great horse camp. No water but you can walk down to the lake and swim and water horses. We took our horses out in the lake which is rather shallow. Had the time of our lives. Would recommend because of the lake and how close it is to the horse camp. Trails were no cleared as yet but once the one around the lake is clear what a ride.

There is a loop trail, if you ride to the top of the mountain and hit the PCT to your left it will drop you back down to the lake where you pick up the lakeside trail back to camp. I've never ridden the PCT the other way and had planned on doing so this weekend, but it is still covered in snow. We purchased a few 30 gallon food grade barrels and attached a spigit to the bottom and fill them up at the people camp around the corner...works great! Lovely riding and never crowded!

The name of this area is Little Grass Valley, not "Grassy Valley". This is a pleasant place to camp but there is no water available! This makes it very difficult to do an overnight stay. There is a lake and stream nearby but no water spigots or troughs to be found anywhere! There is parking for your rig, hitching posts, fire rings, and vault toilets. There is a lakeside trail through the forest but we never found out if it connected with anything that looped back to camp. We eventually turned around. There is also a steep trail up to the top of a peak that was very scenic. Again, you turn around and ride back the same trail. I'm sure there must be more trail options in the area but they really need to get some water piped in there!
