Love Carter Caves! Nice Modern campground with full hookups. Safe tie-outs for horses, and nice new bath house. There are much more trails than the 12 miles of trails listed, as this must have not been updated, plus many trails on private land accessed directly from the park, that you are allowed to ride on. The creeks are amazing! Most are flat bottom rock, and easy to ride in. Tall Limestone cliffs on each side of the gourge. Some of the trails are rocky, as in loose limestone, no big rocks to jump down from or anything, but most any trail horse can maneuver through these rocky areas, but some trails are not, so you have different ones to choose from. The rock formations in the area are some of the best in KY too. Nice Day parking area across from camp for day riding. I try to camp here about 4 times a year, and Day ride at least one a month. Give this place a try! Call the lodge for reservations, and NOT Reserve America, and ask about the dates for the Horsin Around Weekends they have every month! |
