I've ridden at Alamo RV for a number of years and have also done a lot of camping there. I've always recommended it to other riders. However, things have changed. The camp now only has a very small, limited riding area. Of the 96 acres, only about 30 contains trails (camp roads and hiking trails) to ride on. The surrounding 300 acres and additional 1200 acres are private land owned by the railroad. This year, that company put up new fencing/cabling and blocked that area off so you can no longer access it to ride on. That means you are restricted to the camp area. If you want to go around and around in loops and circles on the camp trails, you could put in maybe an hour of riding -- at the most. In a straight line, it would only take 5 minutes to get from one end to the other end. Hopefully, the other acreage will someday become available again. The camp itself is beautiful for camping and getting in the river.

The trails are very beautiful and shady which is important during hot summer days. In the fall the colors are beautiful. Nice pens for horses. We don't use hookups, but the trails are very pleasant. Trails are not extensive--can easily ride them in one day--and if you are really moving in a few hours. But for a pleasant weekend, this is a great place to be. Close to city, easy access to stores and anything that might need to be replaced.
