I really enjoy riding at Fausett Farms. The trails are nicely maintained, and almost all of them are wide enough to ride side by side. The trails are marked very well, and there are plenty of watering holes. There is a few hitching posts near a pond, with an area to grill, and an in-woods outhouse (with a crescent moon and everything). There are a few different loops through the woods to chose from; and you can ride across the street in open fields too. The Blue and Yellow trail are easy enough for an Intermediate Novice. The Pink/Purple trail in the open fields an easier ride as well. I recommend the Red and Black trails for the more experienced rider. The Red trail has a nice steady incline up the mountainside, which I love to open up my horse into a full gallop. (So fun!) The Black trail has some of the steepest terrain. They have wash racks at the trailhead to cool down your horse after the ride. The campsite is in view of the roadside at the trailhead, and is just a hookup with access to a port-a-pot. This isn't ideal, but the trails definitely make up for what the "campsite" lacks. This is absolutely one of my favorite places to ride! |
