French Creek Horse Camp - located in Custer State Park. This location is definately one you don't want to miss. If it's rugged terrain with wildlife you are looking for go ride with the Elk, Deer, Buffalo, Mountain Goats, Bighorn Sheep, etc. We've seen them all out here. Campgrounds has modern bath/shower facility otherwise sides are rustic but very nice. You camp right on French Creek - can take the horses swimming (depending on rain season) and also spot for you and your family to swim. Miles and Miles of marked trails to go on. Good Luck and Happy Trail Riding - oh yeah this is one campground that books in the beginning of January for the entire season so check ahead as you have to make reservations - there are a couple of FCFS Sites but very limited - there is also day parking here if you are only going for the day. |
