Found the camp to be very nice. Well laid out, large sites. Trails leave a lot to be desired. Major problem: connector trail from camp to where trails actually start. Connector is 3.1 miles each way. So you ride out and ride back same black trail. Trail was muddy, soft clay. Not bad first day, but by end of the 3rd day, was getting deep. The kind that sucks shoes off horses and pulls muscles. To of the main trails were 3 to 5 year old clear cuts with a trail running through them. Not at all exciting. Best trails were the yellow and black and white. Unless changes are made, I will not be going back any time soon.

This is the first time we rode these trails and also the first year Blue Rock is open for horse camping. The lots available are set up nicely for the gooseneck trailers, water is close to sites; there are several so you do not have to walk forever to get water. The toilet facility is newer pit toilets and when we were there they were full of mosquitos. The trails were well marked. Our complaint is that the bridge is out on Cutler Lake Road and it will be out for like two months, you need to go in off Buttermilk Road, it is off ST RT 60 in Gaysport. It will also cut off drive time to the camp ground. Going in on Cutler Lake Rd we found that a couple of the turns we had to make bound up the tailgate up against the bottom of our gooseneck, so I would be careful if you are pulling a 3 horse or larger trailer. This camp is isolated but beautiful. We plan on a return trip in the fall.

No camping facilities in forest but camp right next door at Walkabout Creek Campground with easy access to trails. Trails are well-maintained and well-marked. Trails are easy to challenging but not so difficult that even a flatlander horse can complete. Little used forest so you can ride all day and not see another horse/rider. Creek crossings, vistas, something for everyone to enjoy.

Great place to ride, however, you MUST have shoes and you must watch for the mud bog on the blue trail. This is an incredibly dangerous area and I'm shocked that the parks department has not caution taped it off. If the ground begins to squish, start looking for switch backs through the woods. This happens in three different areas in close proximity on the blue Trail. You do not under any circumstances want to take your horses through this. I'm actually still reliving the horrid event, playing the "what-if's" in my mind. I never saw it coming and thought for sure I would lose my old girl right there. I will ride there again, and I will ride the blue trail again. However, this time I'll be prepared to avoid the death trap. Really and seriously, nice place, but shame on the people in charge of keeping these trails maintained for not marking that area.

I love riding there. You must have shoes as there is some road riding. Have been there many times and the blue trail is the wet one. When they say don't ride when wet they mean it. Saw a horse stuck in there before. Can't wait to go back down this year.

I have rode these trails many times and I never have gotten bored riding them. There is one trail to avoid and I tik its the blue trail because it is always muddy. But the other trails are great. They are marked very nicely so you shouldn't get lost. There is some gravel road you have to ride on so a horse should have shoes on. All in all its a pretty decent trail ride.
