Was not to happy we were told there was showers and water hook up and there is none. Also the power supplies kept blowing out fuses. There's no swimming for the campers and the lake isn't near by. The park is small but nice. Kids got board easy but it's small enough that the kids can roam with no worries.

Ravines and hills. Portions of the trail too wet to follow. Took the horses to Oak Openings the next day. Nice location of park and good picket lines.

This is a nice place to ride the trails twice in a day and then go onto Oak Openings the next day and then go home. The people there who camp are pretty frendly and lots of fun if you make the first overture. Would like to see more riding there as you can only ride al little while and you have ridden it all.

It is very bad when wet on lower trails. Horse was in mud to hocks. Saw a few pulled shoes when there. When dry it is good riding. Very nice little park. Trails needed a little grooming(branches trimmed back and limbs down). Would like to see people not set up grazing areas at camp sights. Looks messy. Day area needs a little more attention. No picket lines or water available there. Need to carry in water for day riding or haul from campground. Need a few fire pits over there to cook on so we can eat after a day ride. Not allowed to use camp sights.

If you haven't been to Van Buren lately, it's well worth the trip. The trails have been improved, wet spots have been filled in or bridged over. There is still some mud in the wet season, but tell me where there isn't! The trails range from very easy to very challenging, so any level of rider can have a great time. The campground has also been improved, and there is talk of putting in electric to some of the sites this year. If you haven't been to Van Buren before, try it, you'll have fun. If you've been there before, come back, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Many improvements have been made on trails. Addition of bridges, and repair muddy area's with geo-tex and stone. Camp sites are great. New water well to be drilled this year. Also Friends of park and County horse council working on building a riding arena this. year. Easy access off I-75. Close enough to Oak Openings to be able to ride both parks. This park should definately be on your to ride and camp list!

Yellow trail is best to ride. Red has alot of mud, better as season dries. White is good. Great place to get horse and rider in shape. Easy to return to camp when tired and in need of refreshment. Super place for family bikers, hikers and fisherman.

You can break the trails down here to two categories, the north side of the water, is relatively flat riding, with being able to ride in the open or thru the trees. Go across the bridge by the lake to the south side, and the riding changes in the level of experience needed. Also note that when we where there, the south side trails are in need of some work. It will present some nice challenging riding on that side, I think, if they are able to rework the trails. We happened on a couple members of the OHC Club at the new campground when riding, and they are hoping to work on the south side trails. They do have a very nice campground there, but we just were day riding.
