No one has submitted a "recent" review for BarkCamp so here is my input. Have been camping for years and consider this camp exceptional for Ohio. Great having electric, many upgrades have been made in the past 3 years, new tie lines for all the sites; two water sources; still pit toilets, but you are camping. The OHC has built a beautiful pavillion on top of the hill which is great if you have a large crowd. Weekends you are going to have a full camp for the most part, we can go during the week and have either no one else there maybe one or two but that is it. The whole area of Belmont has grown considerably with the fracking many more business's are there now; we have taken friends to this camp and they love it also. Trails are normally well kept thanks to the OHC; if there were no challenge why bother going.

Trails were easy. The campground was clean. Unfortunately we came in late and had to tie the horses across the road and down over the hill in the woods. Saturday was a nice ride, however early Sunday morning we were awakened by the screams that our friends horse was hung up on the tie line. Many campers reponded quickly. However, all the local vets listed on the emergency board would not because we were not clients! A fellow camper called her vet who came. Orleans a beautiful strong and courageous walking horse was trailed back to mansfield. She walked out of her stall into her paddock ealy the following morning as the sun came up, drew her last breath and passed away among those who loved and cared for her. We will never again tie horses were they can't be seen. Thanks to all the campers who responded and helped, Shame on the non caring vets who didn't!

Campground is nice enough but not all of the sites are set up for horses. Some of the sites had ties for the horses but others didn't. It was very wet while we were there and the horses had to stand in fairly deep mud. We ended up leaving early due to it being so muddy and sloppy. Water consist of one hydrant for the entire horse area. While the electric was nice, some of the primitive camping at Ohio parks is much better than here. Probably won't come back.

First camping experence. great campground. There is an 8 mile outer trail that circles all the other trails. In 2006 an eagle scout project marked the loop with easy to read trail markers evey 1/4 mile. some wet spots. could use some triming. good map from the camp office.

I was very disappointed with the quality and lack of maintenance of the trails. There were several spots of knee-deep mud where by-passes could and should have been cut. Almost every trail had these mud pits. We went home earlier than we had planned because we were not willing to risk the well-being of our horses anymore. I will not be returning any time soon. It's a real shame because the camp area is great.

Campground was very nice, clean, although pads to park trailer on small and narrow, not much room for anything else but trailer. Restrooms where outhouses. Trails where not marked, very muddy, brush thick and narrow.
