Camden was great! Cons are you have to cross train tracks to get to horse camp, then you get to camp within sight of the train that go by and wakes you up at night. Some horses don't like trains. You have to cross a river-which is a very nice river, then it is so overgrown you can't find trail. Then its up a very, very steep hill. Then you have mild and easy well mowed trails at the top. The hill is very fun. The two horse corrals were great, wheelbarrow, water, high lines, bathrooms. If you prefer flush toilets a short walk back across train tracks and next to other campsites are very fancy bathrooms for a state park. For the humans the spring fed pond is beautifully clear and cool for a swim. little kids loved it.

Aug 13 was the perfect time of the year for a visit to Camden, nobody was around beside park staff, had the whole place to ourselves. A beautiful stream to cross your horse over, and that is how you get to the main trail, but on the other side of the stream the trail was not marked and overgrown, but the rest of the trail was pretty, very steep hills in some parts, and the worst part was the corrals were right next to the railroad tracks, one of our horses was scared of trains, but a very nice park, We want to go back soon.

We loved the camp, my 3 kids and I did well on the trails (they are 10 to 15yrs old). Yes there is one tricky hill, we chose to get off and walk the horses down it. The river crossing was easy and we had fun with it. Be prepared to tie your horses to your trailer if your not early enough to get a corral. There are no numbered camping sites, but we "circled the wagons" with friends so it worked nicely. If the weathers nice be sure to play in the river that runs behind camp. It was great fun and nice after a warm ride.
