We ride at the Double J Ranch every weekend. If you want to ride with a group, there is always someone there. If you want to ride alone, that's fine too. Each week we meet new people and make new friends. The trails are awesome and there is a river to enjoy during the summer when the heat is unbearable. There is access to an arena where you can practice your skills on various events.

The Double J is by far my favorite trail riding place ever and I have been riding all my life:-) The Jarvis family provides a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your horses and friends and they treat you like family. Our horses love it up there as much as we do and they know when they are getting close to the river! The river riding is so much fun and the campground has everything you need to be comfortable. The trails are hilly and some areas are rocky but great for getting you and your horse in top shape:-)

If you haven't experienced Double J Ranch, it is a definite must. I have been camping and riding in many places and Double J Ranch is by far my favorite place. I have been riding at Double J since the campground first opened. As the owner said it is truly "a facility built by horsemen for horsemen." I love that while I stay at Double J, I have the comfort of having my horse and trail dog right by my side the entire time. The trails are gorgeous and can provide a great ride for all types of riders and experience levels. The owners are friendly and always make sure they take care of their riders. I have been trail riding in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia and I have to say that the Double J ranch in Whitmire, SC is, by far, the best all around equine facility I have ever ridden. I don't know that Dave and Janis would call their wonderful facility an "All Inclusive" ranch, but if there is such a thing, the Double J c...ertainly meets and surpasses any standard you will experience! The annual spring and fall "Wet-N-Wild" ride is like an all-inclusive vacation. The hospitality they exude is genuine, the trails are awesome with river encounters and the food is great. It is also one of the only year-round places you can go and ride anytime. We will definitely keep going to the Double J for all the pleasantries again and again! Thank you!!!

Dave and Janice are great host. We are planning to go back when it cools down a little. Campground is being improved all the time, yes, they need more small rock and the sites need to be cleaned, but if you own your own farm you know there is always work to be done. Corrals need improving and sites need to be leveled. Down trees need to be cleaned up and burned, that would would be an improvement. That being said, I will recommend the campground If you want to meet some great people and by all means take the river ride during a full moon, beautiful!

After riding in 10 states of the Eastern US from the Alleghany Mountains of Western New York to the Suwanee River of Florida, these trails can't be beat. Moderate to challenging hills, beautiful clear river, shady forest without the rocks of the mountains. Great "at home" bath house. Campsites have plenty of electric for our AC and are spacious. You won't be lined up with one foot of space between you and the neighbor's rig. This is a fairly new development, under continuous improvement. Hey, if we wanted the manicured lawns, we wouldn't be camping. The "pay one price" policy with paddocks included is cheaper than the state parks. The owners are as friendly and helpful as they come. The rules are: use common sense. The only thing missing is more horses on the trails, check it out.

I attended a SCQHA ride at the Double J. The people that organized the ride did not do a good job and definitely could have done a way better job, but Dave and Janice were exceptional hosts! Only a handfull of riders camped for the whole weekend, most of the attendees only came for the Saturday ride. The trails were great and challenged me, but everyone was great to ride with. David and Janice made sure that no one was left behind and everyone was safe. We had all ages and expert levels riding, and everyone enjoyed themselves. The organizers abandoned the campers, but Dave made sure we all had a great time. The bath houses are some of the best I have seen at a campground. Camp sites were a little rough and only a few that big rigs could get into, but improvements are coming all the time. The family goes all out for their guests and I would definitely go back! Thank you Dave And Janice! We had a great time.

owners are very nice people and they do have nice shower houses, but the campground is a mess. The sites are not level, some site you couldn't even get in with a nice rig, and when it rains it is a mudhole. The sites with corrals would be nice if they had gates and people cleaned the corrals before they left. For what you are paying you shouldn't have to clean other peoples horse crap out of the corrals, and you should have nice level sites. This is the most expensive campground we have ever been to, and we have been to a lot of place all around SC., GA., NC., and TN. It is not worth the money to stay there; however, I would go for a day ride because their trails are nice.

OWNERS VERY NICE AND WANT TO MAKE YOUR STAY ENJOYABLE. I ENJOYED THE RIVER RIDE AND TRAILS WERE FAIRLY NEW, BUT THEY WILL GET BETTER WITH TIME. I LIVE CLOSE ENOUGH WHERE I WILL ONLY BE GOING ON DAY RIDES BECAUSE THE CAMPING IS NOT THAT GREAT. CAMPSITES ARE UNLEVEL AND I WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE MY RIG DOWN TO THE LOWER CAMPSITES. THIS CAMPGROUND NEEDS ALOT MORE WORK. ALSO RULES NEED TO BE MADE ABOUT BURNING FIRES IN CERTAIN AREAS , HORSE AREAS WERE A MESS(SO THEY NEED TO CLEANED BEFORE LEAVING) . AN AREA TO PUT THE POOP WOULD BE NICE INSTEAD OF JUST RAKING IT UNDER THE FENCED CORRAL.BATHHOUSE WAS CUTE AND CLEAN. I PERSONALLY HAVE MY OWN IN MY TRAILER, SO DID NOT HAVE TO USE THEM.THIS COULD BE A REALLY NICE PLACE WITH SOME MORE WORK DONE TO IT. CAMPING WAS TOO EXPENSIVE PER NIGHT FOR THE SHAPE OF THE PLACE.

Very pleasant hosts, but campground is rough. Good idea, poor execution. Bathhouse is nice enough, walls do not go all the way to the ceiling, so sounds will travel, and likely will not hold up to the test of time, cheap construction. Same for the dance floor and band area. Campsites are not level, not well marked, red clay and 1x3 gravel. Horse corrals are a MESS - broken gates, if any at all, poorly repaired boards, uneven, muddy, old hay and manure everywhere - apparently there is no requirement to clean up when you leave, and the hosts don't seem to do it, either. No firerings to speak of, looks like some campers made their own out of whatever was available - or just burned wherever. Looks like they have alot of work to do here. Looks more like a place for yahoo cowboys to go drinking and bring the horses along so they look "cool" - a true horseman would not put their horses in those corrals. won't return.

Dave and Jan are great folks. Dave rode with us on our first day and among other things showed us the river ride. It was great! The water was up a little so we got wet up to our knees. There's a swimming hole too (not hot enough for us to swim) so in the summer it would be fun. Very varied terrain...mostly single track with some dirt roads... from easy to almost extreme. My horse was green and barefoot and he did great. The only negative relates to the fact that this is a new campground with new trails; there is a lot of bare clay in the campground because the grass hasn't grown in yet. However, the roads and parking pads have good rock/gravel base so even if it rains you won't get stuck. It's likely to be muddy walking around if it rains much, which is the reason I only rated the campground three stars. I see this as a temporary thing. Also, some of the trails are recently bulldozed, which I think is kind of ugly but once again, when the grass grows in they should be fine. As far as the trail rating goes, you can find what you like because of the variety. My wife didn't like some of the steeps we found (which I do like) but Dave can tell you where to go to avoid this terrain if you don't like it. I didn't rate the trails five stars because I don't care for bulldozed trails, but in total mileage these trails are probably less than 10% of the total so don't make too much of this comment.
