We rode in the Manchester State Forest. You need a permit, which you can get on line, to ride in the forest. The riding is fairly easy and very pretty with the old Charleston Moss hanging on the trees. Trails marking is sometimes hard to follow unless you watch them closely. We camped in the Millcreek Park Campground run by Sumter County. It is the best kept secret I have found lately. There are over 120 campsites with each having water and electricity with half in the shade. A bathhouse is available with 25+ horse stalls too. The cost is $10.00 per night per campsite. Easy to get in and out of the campground. The campgroud is on the south end of the forest and is about 20 miles from Sumter. A very historical Millford Plantation is nearby. Plenty of dirt roads to ride also. You can visit Poinsett State Park by dirt road or by trail.

WE had a great time. The trails was nice. Had some trees to cross that have falling. The trail need to be mark better. Everyone needs a map to ride on this trail. It would be easy to get lost. We rode for 5 hrs and wasn't able to ride all of the trails. The trails was clean of trash. The river was alsome. The horses had fun playing in the river. The camp ground was very nice and look new. We are going back this spring and camp.

This is an awesome place to ride, and their are miles and miles of trails, and dirt roads. All trails are color coded and very well marked. Manchester Trail Riders hosts a spring and fall ride that is absolutely fantastic. We camped at Mill Creek Park, there is a nice, CLEAN, bath-house with plenty of hot water. There are plenty of lighted stalls for you horse with running water at the stall site. VERY CONVENIENT! There are also oplenty of placed to string a picket line if you prefer. All campsites have water and power hookups and there is a large clubhouse and shelter on site. I recomend this location to anyone.

The trails are very well marked and easy to navigate with several changes of terrain. We really enjoyed them. We camped at Poinsett State Park and used the connector trail to access theses trails. Poinsett State Park will also sell you the necessary permits for this forest.
