Beautiful Trails for the whole family. Not as difficult as we usually do but so fun to relax and have fun on the girls trip! We even enjoyed the obstacle course. Hopefully some things will be added and updated on the obstacle course for the next trip.

Kevin and Janet are wonderful hosts, they make you feel like family! The food was EXCELLENT and the fellowship with the riders was TERRIFIC. We just completed 4 years at the Fall Ride, we're booked for next year already. We always look forward to this ride, we've been trail riding about 25 years. We've traveled many miles, so thankful this is a short drive for us as we live in Glasgow, Ky.

The campground is very nice, large clean bathhouse, instant hot water in the private room showers. Good stalls. Camp host, Chris, was great - shared lots of info about the trails & recommended where we rode. There are easy, wide trails and challenging trails. Nice little obstacle trail to play on. We rode Chicken Hollow (Wet Prong, Collie Ridge, Blair) a very nice easy 10 mile loop with some creek crossings. For more of a challenge we rode McCoy Hollow/First Creek - the hills were not steep, but plenty of rocky places to navigate with some places for the horses to climb or jump up/down - very beautiful with big rock formations, creeks and waterfalls - we rode all 18 miles of McCoy Hollow in one day, but next time will use the gravel road that goes up the center of the loop to make it 2 shorter days of riding. Will have to come back a few times to make sure we ride the other 40+ miles of trails we didn't get to. Easy to get to with truck & trailer. One of the best camps we've been in and great trails - definitely recommend.

Very family friendly atmosphere. Easy checking in. Clean bath houses. Private shower stalls. Very close to multiple attractions if you take the free Green River Ferry. Stalls were nice size. Wheel barrels and forks supplied. Water was easily accessible along with four wash racks. We really enjoyed Chris and staff and they were very attentive to our needs. Very well marked trails but inquire before you head out!!

Kevin and the camp host ( I cannot remember his name) are fantastic. It's a laid back place and we like it that way. We go at least twice a year. The upper campground (Section B) needs a little TLC. The road is washing out and the ruts are deep, the stalls have drainage issues. Nothing some drain tiles and some gravel won't fix. We will definitely continue to go back.

Great campground! Large sites and nice shower house facility. Good place for kids. The arena and obstacle trail are a really nice feature. It kept our 10 and 11 year old girls occupied when we were not out on the big trails. Stalls, bunk house and lodge were really nice as well. You must stall your horses and the main area is a long walk but they have a new area that stalls are right next to you sites which I prefer in lieu of keeping horse at your site. We rode the 10 mile loop and it had really good footing, a few rocky areas and climbs as well as a short stretch on a gravel road. We did encounter two groups of hikers and they were very respectful and helpful when I had a mule having a slight meltdown over their packs. All in all, good experience. Owners are first rate and will make your stay enjoyable.

There are many wonderful horse camps across the country. A few of them are special. Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is that special camp that you can call home. Kevin and Janet Davis have built a camp that features excellent camp sites, roomy and secure stalls. A pavilion with fireplace serves as a cozy dining hall and entertainment center. The camp staff is attentive to your every need. Need help finding a farrier, veterinarian or mechanic? Kevin and crew have you covered. Check out the weekend and week long rides at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Because the camp attracts great people you’ll make new and life long friends. Plus the trail system offers something for every level of rider. These days I spend a lor of time riding out West. But I make a pilgrimage back to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Its worth the trip.

KEVIN and his wife have always been extremely friendly and welcoming very professional and customer service oriented. It is a family friendly environment. My kids will remember growing up there I can't wait to hear the stories they will tell to their kids when they bring them there as well! If you're looking for a fun environment, no matter what age you are and you want to make everlasting memories, this is where it's at people! Stables are clean and secure. I loved my stay at Mammoth Caves Horse Camp and I loved my rides in the park. Kevin is great at the campground. Water and electric at the site. Nice stall for my horse. Easy access to the trails. Trails are a great variety. Large loops. Some easy and some difficult. It was dry leading up to our time there and then rained every day. Lots of hills so was getting slick but happy that there were not a lot of muddy/boggy areas. Variety of single file primitive and then wide, small graveled/kitty liter style trails. Really enjoyed my time here.

Campground was clean and easy to set up. Bath house was clean, Stalls were well maintained and served their purpose well. Trails are marked with BLUE tags that were easy to locate however the trail name abbreviations and distance traveled were NONE Existent. It was hard to identify what trail you were riding and then the trail changed names. Our group was able to navigate using a phone app and it worked out well to keep the group on track. The BLUE markers need updated information applied to them. The trails were easy to moderate in traversing with only a very few rough to hard places due to mother nature for the most part. Our group was overall pleased and will plan another trip. Nice place overall.

Always enjoy Mammoth Cave Horsecamp. Visited the weekend after the camps big spring fling ride so had the place pretty much to ourselves. Camp is always in great shape, barns also. Shavings were a bit difficult to get but learned where they are accessible when no one is at the office. Trails were in great shape and I know from talking with the camp worker that the crew from this camp worked their butts off clearing the trails the past few weeks and it showed!!! Raymer Hollar looked like a war zone and I can’t imagine the work it took clearing all the trees that were across the trail. We carry a saw and my husband cleared a couple on the other trails which he does everywhere we go. So thank you for your camp and all your efforts and hard work for everyone to enjoy it!!!

This was a clean, friendly comfortable camp. I would have liked more hooks for hanging things in the bathroom by the bunk house and in the bunk house room. The shower was inconveniently located in relation to the bunk house, though I understand it is central to most camping spots. I would have brought a bike with me if I knew the showers were a hike away.

Still downed trees but volunteers continuing to work hard to get them cleared. Some trails can be dicey in wet conditions and some are pretty rocky. But there are also plenty of easier trails, Wet Prong and Collie Ridge are the easiest nicer trails to get to from Mammoth cave horse camp. Wet Prong is a beautiful trail with pretty creek crossings.

Only thing I would suggest is not using the GPS Waze. It takes you off route into another road that has no turnaround. I suggest putting the sign for Mammoth Cave Horse Camp, on the opposite side of the road, not attached to the tupelo street sign. Other than that, no complaints, we will be back!

They responded quickly in our planning phase when we had questions about hay etc. Check in was smooth and fast. Bedding was delivered to the stalls right away. Staff was FANTASTIC. Chris rounded several times a day checking on things. Kevin came by once he was back home and checked on all the campers. The trails have had a lot of work done on them since we were last there. Absolutely loved this campground. The stall construction are the best I've seen. I would give the trails a 5 star if there was less mud and there were several trees down across the trails. Nothing new for my horse and myself, but was expecting more trail maintenance for a national park. This could just be my wrong perception. I would encourage a trip/stay here!

The trails were beautiful, with a nice mix of dense forest, sparkling creeks, and scenic landscapes. The camp filled up a bit on the weekend, and it was nice to see all the horses, but during the week was even nicer, having the whole camp and the trails mostly to ourselves. The horses enjoyed rolling in the sandy arena and grazing on the lush grounds after a ride. We all had a great time!

Just got back from the fall ride. The owners and staff are absolutely the best around. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The facilities are great and the entertainment top notch. This was a sixth year at the fall ride and we plan on returning annually. We always have such a good time catching up with friends and look forward to this vacation. The owners and staff are more like family and go out of their way to make you feel at home. If we lived closer, we would go more often.

Campground and bath house were clean and maintained. Grass was cut and roads thru campground were fairly smooth gravel roads. Barn was spacious with places to hang tack. Wheel barrows and rakes were available and the manure pits were centrally located. Map was available as well as a trail app, both were accurate. Trails are well marked with both color markers and mileage markers. Large trail signs with mileage at beginning of each trail. Most trails are wide and easy, with enough "single-track" trails to make it interesting when you start getting board with easy. Raymer Hollow road had some large 57 gravel on it (about 3 miles) which makes it hard on horses feet. I sure hope they put some crusher run on that trail. It's really pretty and has lots of small bridge crossings. Buffalo Creek was fun and a little technical and the McCoy trail is hard to extreme. Wet Prong trail is beautiful. This is our second time camping at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp and we will return. WE love the ease of riding, the pleasant campground with shade and a clean bath house that includes a laundry. Would like to see maybe another bath house closer to the barn area in the future. Some great little restaurants located close by the campground that makes it nice for quick meals. I would recommend staying there in early spring or very late fall (after first frost) because of the bees and snakes we encountered on the trails. Happy Trails!

We really enjoy going to MCHC. We've been there for a spring and fall trail ride which is really nice, if you didn't get enough food, it's your fault! We've also been there 8n tge dead of summer. The camp is usually quiet and you do your own thing. It's a nice time to go if you want quiet! Kevin and Janet are great host along with all their staff. Trails are nice and you can go you own pace. I do agree with a suggestion to put a trail head sign somewhere. This last time there, we where there and another couple was in the cabins. They looked a bit lost until we found out they where looking for the trailhead. All 8n all, we love going there.

Hello fellow trail riders, The campground is ok but the office was almost never open and we did not know our way around. A guy mowing grass did show us how to get to the trails from the campground but a sign would have been nice. Some of our group did find an obstacle course in the woods the last day. If you have ridden in the woods in Ohio, WV, VA or KY... you will have seen everything I saw on these trails. The camp owners were never seen around the camp. I do not see a reason to ever go back. I would suggest looking for another place to ride.

Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is a wonderful place to stay! Site 12 directly behind the horse trailer area has a wooded area with a hitching rail that's large enough for two horses and (bonus here) a 12 x 12 picnic canopy. Full shade! Hook-ups are close enough for 25' potable water hose and 25' electric cord. Showers and bathrooms were clean and I especially like the layout. Each shower is it's own separate room with a locking door. If you're a solo camper like me this is a safe way to do showers. My horse was comfy in a clean stall that had hooks for water bucket and feed bucket plus a corner hay feeder. Wash racks were refreshing after riding (yep, my horse made sure that I got wet too!) Shavings and ice, tee-shirts and other cool stuff are available at the camp store. Camp owners Kevin and Janet are the best people ever! They provide free maps and are very familiar with the trails because they both ride. There's a little stage set up and Kevin and friends provided live music on Saturday night. Folks were dancing, socializing and having a wonderful time! Trails in MCNP are some of the best maintained I've seen in Kentucky or Tennessee. You can choose from easy (Collie Ridge, Wet Prong), intermediate (Raymer Hollow, Blair Spring) and more "technical" trails (First Creek and McCoy Hollow). You can use the maps to plan your rides either short, medium or all-day if that's what you want. Five-star rating and I'll be back for sure!

Trails are well maintained, although there are some muddy places but limited amounts and most of the muddy spots have walk arounds. My horses don't have shoes and did not have any issues. Hills were rolling. A few technical places. get your horses used to crossing wooden bridges if they have issues with that. We did pick off several lone star ticks from horses and ourselves. Enjoyed the experience and reserved our campsite and stalls for next year. Well worth the money.

Make sure your horse is comfortable with a bit of rock navigation. We thoroufhly enjoyed it! I’d recommend MCHC to anyone wanting a great trail experience, even if it’s more than just your easy hack. Howdy Trail riders! You've probably never heard of me, but I am Brett Donner, founder of the Kentucky Trail Riders Association. I probably should not be posting a review. It may be showing that I am bias. Which very well may be true. However, I have been going to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp since it opened. To say it has come a long way is accurate. The campground has always been fantastic and the folks that run the place are second to none. How it operates and how people are treated there is rarely found in the United States. From the moment you arrive, you are called by your first name and treated like you are the only person they are serving. I have attended every KYAQHA ride since Sarah Hayes started holding them at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. How to show thank you and praise to Sarah and her group for putting on such an incredible ride is beyond me. First night dinner, RIBEYE STEAK off of the grill!, baked potato! Green beans and all the fixins and salad and desserts. AMAZING! I know I started out talking about the campground and the trails. In the early years, the trails were a little rough, poorly marked, narrow, footing was rough for a billy goat, but the forest was beautiful and it made it well worth the difficult trails to ride in such a beautiful area. Well no more! The trails are wide! The footing is incredible! Rained most of the day Saturday and Sunday morning the trails were perfect! Not a single puddle or mud hole. The base drains like nothing I have every seen. The grade is PERFECT to keep the trails from getting mud holes. The trail master needs more than an AT-A-BOY! for this project. All I can say is "SPOILED!" The hosts at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp spoil the trail riders, the trails, spoil the trail riders, and the forest remains as beautiful as ever. This place has it all, gentle easy riding for us old folks, more challenging areas for those looking for an exciting ride and miles and miles of trails for the endurance rider. If there ever was a perfect place to camp and ride, Mammoth Cave Horse Camp has provided all of us that place. We travel a little over 2 hours to get to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. There where folks from as far away as Connecticut, lots of folks from Northern Indiana and Southern Tennessee. Mammoth Cave Horse Camp remains the number 1 five star rated horse camp in the world for all the reasons I listed above and more. Hope to see you all on the trail! Mammoth Cave Horse Camp isn't the only place to ride and camp, it's the BEST! place to ride and camp!

We enjoyed a great Derby weekend at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Kevin and his staff always make us feel at home and welcome. We met some great new friends from Tennessee and Alabama. The Derby party was awesome. The trails were a little muddy from all the rain and there was a couple of large trees down. We reported the down trees to Kevin and within a couple of days the Mammoth Cave Back Country Horsemen had cleared the trees. Great work!

Spending a weekend at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp leaves you with a lifetime of memories. Gather your friends, set up a ride, be sure to request the meal option if available and bring your dancing boots. Kevin has assembled a staff and volunteers that make you feel welcome, keep you well fed and wonderfully entertained. MCHC goes above and beyond. Brandon welded my trailer, JD & Mary made us all feel part of the group and Bubba and Kevin played their musical hearts out for us. My cheeks still hurt from laughing and smiling. You'll find yourself wanting to stay. I've stayed at many horse camps and MCHC tops the list. I travel nine hours to get there and the trip is worth every minute. This was my second visit this year but certainly not my last.

You absolutely can not ask for better horse camp owners than Kevin and Janet Davis. They take phenomenal care of their customers. All campsites have electricity and water. The barns are clean with bedding upon arrival with shavings provided...for a small fee your stalls are cleaned, daily. The trails are safe with creeks, rocks, woods, small waterfalls, caves, etc... You can go on any length ride from the trailhead. The trails are marked and are NOT dangerous - mostly safe and relaxing, in my opinion. Book very early if you want to attend scheduled event rides - they fill up extremely early.

The trails at Mammoth Cave were beautiful very well maintained and a variety of terrain. The food was fabulous along with the crew that feed us everyday. A lot of thought and planning from trails to having a wonderful place for the horses to stay with fresh water and a place to give the horses a bath to a clean bath house for humans too and wonderful entertainment every evening. The electric and water hook ups for the trailers were easy along with a big enough area to park your rig. Looking forward to going back.

First time at this camp and were very pleased with the entire experience. We came for their fall organized ride. The food was delicious, the staff very helpful and gracious, entertainment every night that varied from bands to wonderful group campfires, and the hall was a great gathering place to meet new friends. The campground was clean and sites were easy to enter/exit. The stalls were good size and water, shavings, etc. was easily accessed. Although I choose to keep my tack in our trailer, there are saddle racks to store your equipment in the barn. I did store feed and hay there. The shower rooms and restrooms were the cleanest I have found at any camp. My husband does not ride so he enjoyed having access to WiFi in the main hall. The trails out of camp offered a variety of riding, most are easy forest trails, but a couple offer more difficult and scenic terrain. There are miles of trails/combinations so you can ride as long as you like. A great deal of thought went into this camp and it is a great place to stay. The staff is outstanding.

If you are looking for a great camping/riding experience where you are well taken care of during your stay, then Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is the place to be. I had the pleasure of staying this past weekend with a bunch of wonderful ladies for our fall Cowgirl ride and Kevin as well as his friendly staff, went out of their way to be sure we had everything we needed. The food provided for our breakfasts and dinners were delicious. The restroom and shower facilities were clean. The barn area and stalls are clean, dry and roomy just like my stalls at home. The campsites are all wonderful with water and electric on each spot and are also not too close to your neighbor so you don’t feel crowded. The spots are easy to get into and can fit any sized rig. All of the trails are beautiful and diverse. There are trails for any level of experience for the horse or rider. I am also a big fan of the trails being marked well. The best part about my stay was that I felt completely welcomed and at home like I was an old friend and this was only my second time of camping here. It truly makes a difference when you know the person who’s running their business absolutely loves what they do.

Had fantastic meals provided for us, firewood for our campfires in the cool evenings and even offered stall cleaning if wanted for a fee. I just love this camp. The stalls are very roomy and I feel it is safe for my horses. The sites are for the most part shady. There are some that aren't but most are. Trail head is pretty close. I think the park needs to do some work on the trails. When I was there is was pretty muddy and a lot of rocky area. All in all a really good time was had. Check this camp out. Well worth your time.

Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is a really nice, first class facility and we plan to return. The stalls are large (10X10), airy, and well bedded. For a small extra charge they will even clean your stalls for you - you can't beat that! We stayed at the bunkhouse, which was clean, dry, and cozy (there was a nice little "faux fireplace" heater and also an air conditioning unit). The bunk house had sturdy double bed sized bunk beds - so you can sleep up to four. The camp sites were also very nice - well placed on the top of a hill. Shower facilities were very clean with plenty of hot water. Kevin and Brandon were super nice and very helpful and accomodating. There are more trails to explore here than any other place we have ridden and we were very pleased with them, but some of the trails are in need of drainage work in places, which is why I only rated the trails with four stars. The Wet Prong Trail is beautiful, but crosses a number of mountain spring/seep areas which are very wet and the horse traffic is really tearing up the terrain in those places. We did not venture onto the First Creek Trail, but we were told by other riders that this trail was even wetter. The state appears to be in the process of reinforcing those areas with gravel...hopefully this work continues. With gravel and drainage pipe placed in a few strategic areas, the trails will be much more enjoyable for both horses and riders. We also rode the Sal Hollow Trail, Blair Springs Trail and a few others which were dry and a very pleasant ride. All the trails are very well marked and the maps are accurate and easy to read. There are also numerous places to stop for a picnic lunch, with posts to cross tie your horse too.

And the people who come here are really thoughtful. The food provided was exceptional as well. first time at mammoth cave and I picked mammoth cave horse camp yo stay at simply because the facility looked well it together and up to date. ..bathrooms were best I seen with private shower rooms and sites were nice and level with electric and water at each...horse stalls clean and roomy with a hay rack and 2 bucket hangers inside...even a place to put tack since stalls are a bit away from camp site...I drove my truck down everyday and parked it at office when I rode...trails were a little rugged but challenging..we did experience some rain and that made it a bit more difficult to maneuver at times...overall great trip and stall was very helpful ...kept checking on us throughout my 3 days....great trip

this place is the BEST!!! the people that run it are awesome and try all they can to make your stay a great one. The campsites are wonderful and private and shaded. We've got a pretty big rig and there are plenty of sites that are easy to get into. The stalls (I'm one of those that likes a safe place for my horse) are clean and SAFE for any horse - no worries that your horse will be hurt and the hay mangers are an extra bonus. I only wish that there were more cut-offs so that the only alternative wasn't a 5-houre ride or nothing. Trails are nice unless they're muddy - but that's the woods for ya! All in all - hard to find a better place than this one for a peaceful wonderful vacation - you'll have to look hard and long to find a better place - it's top notch!!!

The campground had all the bells and whistles. Very friendly and accommodating. Trails are marked well. Only thing about the trails is that you have to back track because they are so long. We did a trail on Saturday which was about 23 miles and since we wanted to see everything and not back track it took us about 8 hours of course we are on stock horses too and not gaited horses. Beautiful scenery!!! I would go back in a heart beat.

Absolutely tremendous campground and trails! Kevin, Linda and Brandon are excellent owner and staff. With so many horse camps shutting down or thinking to make ends meet, they can fill their facility by bumping the price up, its wonderful to see reasonable pricing and not gouging. Beautiful campsites, even offered campfire wood and to start our fires! We travel back and forth from Michigan and Louisiana yearly and will definitely make our stay a priority to revisit in our travels. We were able to camp about halfway between bathhouse and overlooking our horses. We have camped at many horse camps and this is the most safest, up-to-date, horse and camper friendly facility we`ve been at so far. Kudos to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp!! Only suggestion we could make was possibly installing 4 fixed benches on the outside of each side of horse stall building to accommodate leisure time near your horses, rest from your walks as well as conversation area with other riders.

Campground was very clean, stalls were great, sawdust available, camp sites were spacious and clean with fire ring w/ grill top and very nice picnic tables for each sit. The campground is well set up and easy to get in and out of. I have a pretty big rig and had no problems. Hospitality was top notch. One of the best campgrounds I have been to with or with out my horse. On my list of places to go back to. The riding arena is plenty big with a very good surface to work your horse on. There is a 60' round pen also inside the riding arena. There are also obstacles to work your acquaint your horse with for those doing competitive trail riding. I would have given the trails a 5 star, however First Creek trail was pretty bad and the edge of the trail gave way, one of the horses went down (not mine). This Trail starts out pretty easy but turns into very difficult and hard to maneuver. I would consider this trail expert level for that reason. The rest of the trails were awesome and enjoyable to ride with places to even hitch up your horses and sit a spell for lunch. There even a trash bin for you to throw away your trash. So there is absolutely no reason to see trash on trail. Have to say it was one of the best places I have stayed at and will be back! My hats off to the staff. Your awesome!

We went on vacation with our mules at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp and had a wonderful week. The leaves were turning, so every trail was beautiful. All trails were well maintained and well marked. Good maps are available at the camp, which came in handy even though we always ride out with a GPS. They offer a service to trailer out to various trail heads, so we got to ride on most every trail in the park. The stalls were roomy and clean, with saddle storage area, hydrants, and wash racks. There is a large sand arena available. The highlight of camping here, though, was the attention to customer service by the owner and all of the staff. We have been to many states and a lot of different camp grounds, but this was the best we have ever experienced, no doubt. The camp sites are clean, spacious and level, and are easy to get into. The bathhouse is terrific, with a great hot shower. Very clean! There is a camp store with some basics, and also a fabulous dining hall which has large sliding doors all around to adjust for the weather and temperature. The nights were cool in October, so there was always a roaring fire in the big stone fireplace. We did an event ride, so there was a meal package of 3 meals a day that was better than my cooking, which didn't hurt my feelings at all - so glad husband was happy and well fed! The cost was a good value. Entertainment every night of some sort, camp fires, plus the nicest folks were there. We already reserved for next year and look forward to making this one of our regular riding destinations.

I recently returned from the Second Fall Ride at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. I also attended the first fall ride and had a great time also although the park was closed down by the government. This year we had full access to the Park and a beautiful ride on private land. We rode to the largest sand cave in the region and it was beautiful. This was on private land which Kevin had arranged for us to ride. There were several days that trailers were provided for those that did not want a very long day. They trailered us to various trail heads and we rode back. This allows us to ride areas of the Park which were prohibitive because of the distance. The trails in the park are mostly wooded trails with lots of water crossing. There is one trail with some "technical" spots, but doable with a good horse and well worth the effort. The food was wonderful. The facilities are very nice. The stalls were spacious. The stalls appear to be very well drained when it rained. No horse standing in water in the stall. The barns have a place in the middle to keep your hay, feed and tack (contains some permanent saddle racks). If you prefer, you can pay a small fee and have your stall cleaned every day. The sites were also spacious and fairly level. There are some trees in the campground to provide shade. For a small fee, they will empty your black and gray tanks twice during the week. The bathhouse facilities were nice and clean all through the week. Kevin does a wonderful job in making you feel welcome and addresses not only concerns but requests. He went way out of his way to accomodate special requests. Although the week was well planned, room was made for revisions of the schedule depending on weather and riders' requests. Kevin also has a friendly accomodating and competent staff. The nightly entertainment was excellent and varied. From a blue grass band to a pickin session around the campfire. Kevin, along with other campers brought their musical instruments and played for the rest of us around the common campfire. Kevin runs a quiet, clean and friendly campground. I have also camped here on non-organized rides. Everytime I have been there, Kevin and his staff are the same as during the organized rides. This has become my favorite organized ride. I made my reservation for next year (as did many others).

The campground is clean, and well maintained. While I don't typically like to have my horse away from my camp, the stalls are extremely well built and safe. I felt more than comfortable with the accommodations for our horses. The food was outstanding! My husband is a very picky eater, and usually complains about the food when we camp, unless I cook. We were both surprised and pleased that even he enjoyed every meal. The entertainment provided was above average as well, and perfectly suited to this events crowd. Overall, I must agree that this is a 5 star campground, and we look forward to our next journey there.

Howdy Trail Riders; Those of you that know me, know I have sat on a horse a time or two and driven a team to a wagon a time or two and I have camped and trailered all over this country and even Canada. I want to share my version of a review. First, I don't write reviews very often if at all. But I felt moved to do so. Ruth and I attended two AQHA rides this month, one in Indiana and one in Kentucky. Sarah Hays needs to be put on a pedestal and paraded around as our Crown Jewel. And Mammoth Cave Horse Camp went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. I have to be right up front. I have spent the better part of the past 20+ years making Norman Indiana my normal destination ride. We love the facility, the trails and the drive is only about 2 hours from our home. When I was younger, we visited Norman Indiana 2 or 3 times a year. Now with a few years and miles behind me, we visit once a year, twice if there is an event we want to attend. But I have to say, my days of going off camping and riding will be spent at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. I hadn't been there but once or twice and it had been about 5 years since I was at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. I walked through the door and I was met with a "Hello Brett! A smile and a hand shake. The owner Kevin got up out of his chair to greet me. I see why Sarah Hays chose this site for the KY-AQHA ride. You were greeted with a smile, made to feel welcome from the first second you step out of your truck. Next, the trails have been improved ten fold since our last visit. Our last visit, there were downed trees across the trails and areas washed out, mud and Skid Loaders and other equipment parked through out the forest making improvements or a mess. It was a mess at that time. But I couldn't ask for better trails, Wet Prong was clear, maybe a little rocky in places, but it kept it interesting and on your toes. When we rode Collie Ridge we met rider after rider, they all had smiles on their faces and were having a great ride. The forest was beautiful, the weather was also. The other guests and riders at the camp were all friendly. Saturday we had a longer ride than we had planned, but we made it back safe and sound. The shower house, FANTASTIC! New stainless steel shower fixtures and private individual shower and changing rooms. They were clean and the water was warm. Not once did I ever have to wait on a shower or the bath room and the camp ground was PACKED! Folks were double and triple parked on sites. I was told it was the largest AQHA ride in the world for 2014! I can't say enough about Mammoth Cave Horse Camp and their hospitality. While cleaning my stalls, a beautiful young lady and it appeared to be her daughter and grandson were driving around in a golf cart. Stopped and spoke, we had a nice chat and I found out later it was the owners wife and she was out greeting everyone and seeing if everyone was having a good time. The customer service and social aspect of our stay was that of a 5 star resort. I don't know if it's like that every time you come, but I am going to find out! Enough about how great Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is. Sarah Hays! Met her a few years ago briefly and than again at the Indiana AQHA ride this past month. She knows how to put together an agenda! Everything was first class. If I start about the food it will take two pages! The easiest way to say anything about the food, I needed nap after every meal! Man! the food was outstanding! The auction was good, I hope they raised a lot of money, because I want next years ride to be at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. I'm not saying the Indiana AQHA ride was bad, it was not. It was two totally different environments. One venue was run like a business and the other was run like an outstanding resort with excellent customer service and hospitality second to none. And there was no institutional food served at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp, NO SIR! It was food you would be proud to serve guests at your home. I'm sure there are a lot of places across this land that could benefit from by visiting Mammoth Cave. I apologize if this sounded like commercial, it isn't. Sarah Hays did the most outstanding job and all of her little cronies too. Sarah couldn't have done all of that without you. I only know a couple of them Marie and Kimberly, and Julie Beam you all deserve "AT-A-BOYS!" and a huge thank you. I have it on a good authority that Sarah is an excellent wedding planner too! All hale Lady Sarah. Thank you all for a memorable weekend, I don't get away very often and I thank you for making this past weekend great!

This is a very nice campground. This is the second year we have attended the fall SHOBA ride at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. The facility is really nice for both riders & horses. I believe that all that attended will agree that you won't find a better host anywhere. Kevin does an excellent job taking care of his clients. The trails are varied from easy to quite challenging for any level of rider to be able to enjoy. Lots of beautiful country to ride through in the park.

This is absolutely the cleanest most well run campground I have ever stayed at, the owner Kevin could not have been more more accomodating and is one of the nicest people I have ever met. You can tell he has ridden and camped him self by how well the campground and facilities were planned, we loved the wash racks for the horses. On a 1 to 10 I would give it an 11. We stayed in the smaller bunk house, it was clean and the ac worked great, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms close by. The trails we took were really pretty, Sundays trail was muddy but from what I've been told Kevin has nothing to do with how the trails are maintained. Will definetly go back!

We really lucked out with fall like temperatures, but the shaded trails keep you out of the sun. Our group really enjoyed the rides. You need to pack a lunch and be ready to stay in the saddle for the day in order to see new views. But, even my horse enjoyed the terrain as it can vary from one trail to another. Some areas of trails Not for beginners. The staff was absolutely the most welcoming, trying to please people wanting you to enjoy your vacation. Showers and restrooms very clean, and my horse was very happy in his large stall. Kudos!! Will definitely go back.

Let me start by saying that this was our first horse camping experience, and I did not know what to expect. I found the one trail we took (Wet Prong) WAY beyond my skill level, and our friend who met us there described the other trails as that challenging and then some (she loved them!). Had I known upfront how rough the trails were, I might not have stayed at that camp… But I would have missed a WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE. We stayed in the new single bunkhouse, which was fabulous. The bed was comfortable, the space was quiet, and it was air-conditioned. The horses were nearby, and they had five-star accommodations as well. Linda was in charge for our stay, and she was amazing. When I told her of my difficulties on the trail, she recommended a different trailhead inside the Park, with access 10 minutes away. The recommendation was perfect – we rode from the other trailhead the next two days, and had an excellent time. When we go back to Mammoth Cave, we will stay at MCHC, and haul the short distance to the easier trailheads. (We have a small trailer with two easy-loading horses, so it was no trouble at all.) Overall, the campground amenities and Linda's care of us added up to an amazing first experience.

I loved the nightly entertainment, featuring Clay Underwood and the New Town Band, bluegrass group...loved having the silent auction. I did find the trails, rocky and for me, a little difficult...but Denny saved the week for me by generously offering his mule, Francis and she took very good care of me at the 1st Creek trail head. It was muddy, I believe that Louisville had the nation's highest rain fall on 10-6-13 (the day I arrived) and what with the park shutdown...we were all able to ride guided on private land or take out our aggravation with the Washington folks and trespass!

Some folks complain about the barn being a bit far from the sites, but heck, most of us need a little exercise. I don't see it as a problem at all. Trails are well-marked, but McCoy Hollow has a couple of very difficult spots on it. You do get weary of riding Wet Prong each time to get to other trails, but at least it's an interesting trail. The only camp problem we saw was the gaited riders coming into and out of camp at warp speed.

We really enjoyed our first visit to Mammoth Cave Horse camp and are already planning a trip in the spring. Loved the trails, the barns and facilities. We had a great time the night of karaoke and met many nice people. Our daughter and her family stayed in the bunk house and really liked it. We will definitely recommend to our friends.

I saw this campground highlighted on RFD-TV. Two weeks later we trailered down to check it out in the beginning of December. Kevin was very accommodating and you could tell he loved his business. The campground is beautiful with 100 safe built stalls. Campsites were easy access and level. We had the whole campground to ourselves which was great. This is a good time to camp in Kentucky as the temps were 60's and 70's. The only thing we did not care for at the campground is the main country road was close behind the sites. If the campground was busy it would not be as noticeable. The trails were very well maintained. The trails we were on were not challenging. Some were rocky but not for long stretches. Our horses are senior experienced horses and they handled the trials just fine. Our dogs were welcome to go on the trails which is something we always look for in a trip. We would totally recommend Kevin's place. The bathrooms and showers are top knotch. The campground looks like there is a lot of fun in the summer months. We would definitely visit this campground again! And thanks Kevin for advice on the scenic trails. Had a great visit!

Great ride Halloween weekend. Thanks to all the staff, cooks, band and all others who added to the fun. Always enjoy a weekend at the Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Met some special new friends and rode in perfect fall weather, beautiful cave country/scenery and gorgeous fall color! Great folks gather at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp. Always special to meet new people and see new faces that join the ranks with the 'Ole (NOT OLD) friends that gather there as well. We took a new rider with us for MCHC's Halloween weekend, the longest she had EVER ridden was almost 2 hours, and had only rode a few times. Put her on our "babysitter"; She had the time of her life, we rode for about 4-4.5 hours, she LOVED the trails, scenery, wildlife (saw a 6 point buck), fall colors and has asked when WE are going back. SO, needless to say, because of her "great experience" at Mammoth Cave Horse Camp she will continue to grow as a equine (future) owner, better rider, nature lover and confident woman! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Mammoth Cave Horse Camp to EVERYONE!!!

Campgrounds and barns are great. Obstacle course could be better. No one around to answer questions most of the time and when we did find someone in the office, they gave us the wrong info about which trail to take. By taking the one that was recommended, it turned out to be the most difficult one!!! Adise anyone to check with other campers about trails, not the people in the office!

Excellent campground, nice electric sites, very clean bathhouse/showers, beautiful trails, and owner, Kevin's hospitality can't be beat! Very accommodating host!! Stayed a week there, during the Sheltowee Ride, with the Appaloosa Club, and it was the most awesome horse camping vacation ever! Stalls are great, but the barn is somewhat inconvenient to the sites; however, when we had a rainy day, and didn't ride, we took in the local sites, so it was comforting to know our horses were safe and sound! I would highly recommend Mammoth Cave Horse Camp!!

This was a very lovely place to ride. They have it all, great trails that are easy, or challenging. I was told this place was hard to ride, but found that not to be true. I'm sure you can find whatever you are looking for here. The accommodations are great, clean, and the staff are very welcoming. This place is easy to get big rigs in and out of too. I stayed in the bunkhouse and really liked it. You can hear the horses all night but I like that. It was a long walk to the showers, but you do have bathroom across the drive at the office available 24/7. The stalls are clean, and large. You might want to take a clip for the chain on the stall doors, just to make sure your Houdini doesn't escape. They also have wash racks for your horse if necessary. They have an obstacle course, round pen, and sand outdoor arena. I will be back to ride here again and I will bring some friends.

Have been to MCHC several times. Trail access is very convenient to the camp & well marked. Day riding as well as camping is available. The campground is immaculate. The bath house is clean with large shower stalls. Plenty of hot water is always available. Camping spaces are very easy to park in, with lots of trees for shade. Electric & water are available, with a picnic table & fire pit @ each one. Fire wood is available to purchase for a very reasonable price. Horses may be tethered @ the site or in very roomy stalls @ the barns. The one downfall is the location of the barns from the camping spaces. However; space is available to store tack @ the barns. This is very convenient for those of us who choose to stall our horses. Sawdust is provided when it comes time to clean your stall. The staff always have a smile on their faces & do whatever is needed to make your stay a good one. Kevin, the owner is especially good @ remembering faces & names. You feel like a long time friend. This was the 4th year that Kevin and MCHC have hosted our Women On The Edge ride and as always we were not disappointed!!! MCHC is one of the nicest campgrounds we have ever stayed at and the trails are equaly breathtaking. Just the natural beauty of Mammoth Cave National Forest alone is a trail riders dream come true but combined with the "y'all c'mon in!" atmosphere of the campground it's definatly a 5 star experience! I have camped there since the first year they opened and every time we come they're making improvments, this year was another new barn and 4 brand new bunk houses! After we pulled out this year one of our members horse had an accident and hung himself up in the front of her trailer...we couldn't get him down! We called Kevin and he and some of the guys at the campground were there in moments and rescued the horse and us!!! now that's service!!!...heck that's what neighbors do!!! If you've never been you'll love it!

I love the campground other than the fact that you have to stable your horse unless no stalls are available and they still charge you to picket. I think you should have the option to picket and then maybe a minimal fee. I also don't like that the barns are too far from the sites-makes it too easy for someone to steal your horse. The Davis' are great and really make you feel welcome! Love the single shower rooms too!!

The campground is nice overall, but the staff continued to move our horses from stall to stall. They were never in the same place when we went down to te barn. They were staining stalls and got stain all over our water buckets. Overall the staff was very strange. There are no good places to eat unless you travel to Bowling Green KY or to Cave City KY. People in the area overall are not friendly. If traveling in the immediate area, you use ferrys to cross the water. The riding is extremely rough and there is little to see, but woods. We normally go to Big South Fork and camp, so we are used to the riding varying in difficulty and being rough in some spots. There is no comparison. This riding is extremely rough and dangerous in some spots. I would not recommend visiting the area with horses. It is well worth going to visit the Mammoth Cave and taking the tour. That was the only worthwhile part of the trip. We cut our trip short due to bad experience.

The campground was clean & nice - owner was very accomodating. BUT...we were not impressed with the trails at all. While there were some very nice trail areas, you had to ride through some very rough spots to get there. Trails were well marked, but I would not recommend them to beginners. I am an advanced beginner and my horse is a seasoned trail horse. My friends and their horses are experienced trail riders. We hit some very rough and potentially dangerous spots on the trails that were in desperate need of maintenance. Fallen trees, rocks, and very deep muddy/rocky spots really took away from the enjoyment of the ride and made us all nervous for the safety of our horses. Although it may be contributed to a rough winter, there were no warnings of potential difficulties on the trails. Even though this park is close to us, we won't be coming back...no comparison to Land Between the Lakes.

If I could give the camp more than 5 stars, I would! Great place, great owner(Kevin), great horse accomodations. Roomy, level sites. Large & clean restrooms and showers. Safe, 10 x 12 stalls in an excellent barn. If I had to change one thing about the place, I'd move the barn closer to the sites, but I can see why the barn is located where it is. Trails are well-marked; if you get lost here, it's because you TRIED to get lost. There are no excuses. Few bees on the trails, common for this time of year everywhere. Quite a bit of rocky sections on the trails. One short section of McCoy Hollow is VERY challenging. The only reason I gave the trails four stars is because you must ride the same two trails out from camp, and there are no short loops. But the trails are maintained and fun. Don't miss this place, and if you go, ride to the little restaurant down the road for lunch..great home cooking! (You don't have to ride the road to get there; you go via trails).

We traveled for six weeks covering sixteen states staying in horsecamp and riding trails in national and state forests. This was the BIGGEST disappointment of the entire trip. They didn't begin to live up to their advertising. The place looks like a bombed out forest...dead trees everywhere including two tall ones on our campsite. The sites are level but VERY close to one another. The restrooms were never cleaned during our five day stay. The horses were stalled a quarter mile away...no secure place for tack so it had to be hauled back and forth to the barn...no overnight security...we kept locks on our horse stalls. The trails were okay...but not good...maps were of little use. This was not a place to which we would ever return and do not recommend it.

When we got to Mammoth Cave everything was locked up when we got their, but they had our campsite number and stall number posted on the door...good deal. Made camp and wanted to go riding but realized we had NO idea on where the trail head was and went back to the office and they didn't have any trail-maps posted anywhere, OK went back piddled around ate supper and waited, directly somebody showed up and gave us a trail-map and opened the restrooms up..THANK GOD....... we finally got to saddle up and ride after a 5 hr wait. The campground is new and clean and somewhat shaded depending where they stick ya, we were stuck as far from the horses that you could get around 1/4 mi. so be prepared for that. After riding and the next day we discovered that we had an equine EMERGENCY.. a horses legs swelled up. I had already paid for the full stay but I had to pull up and leave early to try to get back and see a vet, and after waiting a few hours for someone to finally show up I was informed that they don't give $$$$$ back they just CREDIT your account for when ya come back. The trails what little we got ride were not that impressive to me, surely not worth the 4 hour pull to get there. I finally settled on a bunch of t-shirts and hats to try to zero out my account balance because I don't plan on returning. The campgrounds are really nice but just be prepared to be seperated from your horses for awhile, they offer a place for you to put you tack for the next day but anybody that wanted to drive up during the nite could remove you of your tack or horses because NOBODY was there after dark. ----- many a good ride been missed waiting on the rain

I just wanted to comment on the review from "Sassy". Sassy did not stay at our campground this past weekend and when she showed up Sunday night to attend our live entertainment event she was told that we are not open to the public that our events are for our campers only. She got mad and placed her post on this site as a result. Hopefully everyone can see from the rest of the reviews of our campground that we run a clean and friendly campground. I feel that if I open our events to the public it could diminish the enjoyment of our campers which is my first priority. I hope everyone can understand and appreciate the need for this policy.

The Mammoth Cave Horse Camp is a beautiful and well-run facility! The office and pavilion area looked clean and well cared-for. Riding clubs/groups could probably make good use of the pavilion area - the building also had two restrooms so you wouldn't have to walk all the way back to your trailer or the main bathroom/shower house. The barn is maintained well, with good lighting and easy access to water and the wheelbarrows. All stalls had a hay rack and two hooks for feed/water buckets, with sturdy gates and hooks outside for your horse's halter. The manure pit is also easy to get to, and emptied frequently. Depending on where your campsite is located, you may need to drive over to the barn to feed/check on your horses or tack up (especially if you choose to keep your tack at your trailer). There are saddle racks provided at the barn, and many people also stored their hay in the center and end overhanging areas. Most of the people (myself included) kept their saddles at the campsites overnight. Campsites were well-graveled, with water and electric, a picnic table and fire ring. The section closest to the pavilion/office was sort of situated on a hill, which could be a problem if there is a lot of rain and your site happens to be located near the bottom of the hill. The large loop, which is a little closer to the bathrooms/showers, seemed to have nicer sites with better shade and seemed a bit more private. A few of those sites were pull-through. The showers were clean and well-kept, with plenty of warm water and the bathrooms were also in good shape. As for the trails, they were well-maintained and marked, easy to access and easy to follow. Some were more typical narrow dirt trails, others (like Collie Ridge) were wide with gravel footing. There were plenty of places along the way to stop and tie-up the horses for a break. Plenty of creek crossings to water the horses, but we were there during a rainy week so I'm not sure how quickly those creeks would dry up. It was a nice place to ride, and very pretty, but no really breathtaking views or scenery. Still, I would definitely consider another visit to this horse camp!

Stayed at Mammoth Cave horse camp this weekend for the first time this year. Kevin as always had everything in great shape at the camp. Nice clean stalls, campsite as expected. Nice restaurant under new ownership close to the camp with very, very good blackened Catfish and out of this world deserts. Trails were in great shape. We will be back again. We love this place. Come Check it out!

Trails narrow and rocky. We have reservations for a group for several weeks in advance, upon arrival we were told there was a mix up and we would have to seperate and take what was left many sites were open however they were not available to us even though we were there first. No apology was made - very bad business!!!

This was our first visit to Mammoth Cave Horse Camp for the KQHA ride. We were greated by Kevin Davis, who was very friendly and accomodating. After checking in, we were directed to our stalls that were already bedded. We were provided campground maps and trail maps. The campsite was a gravel pad with electric, water, table and fire ring/grill. Our stay was very pleasant, facilities were very good, clean and neat. Trails are a short ride across the road to the trail head. Rode over 60 miles in 3 days on 3 different trails in Mammoth Cave National Park and could have ridden more if time permitted.

This weekend was our second trip to Mammoth Cave Horse camp. This place is wonderful. Kevin makes your stay very enjoyable and will go out of his way to help you any way that he can. The camp ground, stalls, bath house are first class. The food and entertainment is great. You need to put this camp on your must ride list.

I visited this Horse camp this past weekend. I have been riding Mammoth Cave all of my life and live only a short distance away. I have been traveling to TN. IL. Ga. and other states over the years to find decent horse camps and riding. The Camp was one of the very best that I have seen anywhere. Everything was GREAT. The trails were very beautiful as always. This Horse camp is a winner. It is a must see and visit. The owners are very nice and accomodating.

Stayed there over the Memorial Weekend. The campground is brand new and everything is first rate. Very nice stall barn and showers. they have a large pavilion where they serve wonderful food. They had live bands two nights and the bands were very good. There is a store onsite with most anything you might need. The owner is very friendly and accomodating, can't wait to return.
