My first time here, but not my last. Campsites are level, water and electric hook-ups. My shady spot backs to the creek. Large, clean, safe, covered, airy stalls. Dump station, but no water at dump station. Riding is challenging with steep hills, rocks, creek crossings. It is oh! so gorgeous! Falls, canyons, hollows, and so much water! Beautiful pools, falls, and lovely watercourses. Maps are furnished, trails are very well marked. Must see: Bailey Falls, Box Canyon, Purdy Holler. I recommend shoes or boots--it's very rocky. There is no fuel close to camp, so fuel up your truck before you get to camp. Well worth the trip. |

Great campground, great hosts. My campsite was roomy, easy to get level. I thought I wouldn't like not being able to bring my horse to the trailer to tack up, but it actually worked out really well. My horse had a large, airy stall with mats and a window, so he could entertain himself by watching horses outside. Some in my group complained of having to ride a mile or more to the trailhead, but it didn't bother me because it's a pretty ride and there's lots to see. I was surprised at how easy the trails were compared to riding in the Ozarks. The trails in BSF re beautiful--water features, rock outcrops, and the wonderful flora. I will definitely go back to True West. There are lots of other places to camp in BSF, but many of them are someone's back yard with a pen, so be sure you check things out carefully before making a reservation. You can't go wrong at True West. |

Campground is excellent. Sites are level and shady with full hook-ups. Horses are in pens behind barn. Pens are clean, good sized and safe. Leave your tack in the barn; tack up in the barn. No riding direct from camp--must trailer to trails. Trailers are furnished. The riding is flat-out amazing! Incredible views of alpine lakes and trout streams, rock formations, mountains, forests. Campground hosts will guide you. Darryl and Bonnie are the kindest people you will meet. My entire experience was wonderful! |
