My husband and I stayed at True West Campground Columbus Day weekend 2013. This particular weekend, the "Chuck Wagon" was there. I didn't really know what to expect. To be honest, I thought, "Yep, we're gonna end up paying a ridiculous price for some crappy BBQ and call it a night." Boy, was I WRONG! We paid a VERY reasonable price for our BBQ plate which had the biggest "helpins"! Then, we all gathered under the covered porch for some AWESOME LIVE (I Repeat) LIVE MUSIC!! These guys knocked it outta the park!! We even danced a little (and we don't dance te he)! I venture to say that EVERYONE there had a blast that night. Then following day, my husband, a few friends, and I rode to the Needle's Eye. You wanna talk about scenery and a heck of a ride, go there!! Before we left the campground that morning, Shawn and Donna gave us all DETAILED maps of the surrounding trails and advised us the best way to reach our destination.I was so amazed of Shawn's ability to tell me exactly what to expect (terrain wise) while reviewing the map. He knows those trails like the back of his hand! Each time we stay at True West, I fall more and more in love with the place. Shawn and Donna now feel like my very own family members. They are such humble people. One night, we even had the honor of having them over for dinner around our campfire. Donna even took me to meet her horsey companion, Trooper. That was certainly a sentimental moment I will always treasure. Now onto the facilities....That weekend, True West was PACKED to the gills! I expected to see the campground sort of unclean because soooo many people were there. You know what? Not once did I encounter that! The True West staff really kicked it in gear with keeping everything spotless the WHOLE weekend! (The warm showers, the covered porch, the barn, the wash bays, and the grounds.) So, in summary, True West has our hearts. We won't be camping at any other campground if we are in the BSF area. We love them. We appreciate them just like they appreciate all of their campers, and I am confident that anyone that chooses to stay there will feel the same way.

My husband and I stayed at True West for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I found the trails to be very scenic and delightful for both myself & my green 2yr old colt. He was able to enjoy a 4+ hour ride without getting tender. The folks at True West seem to strive to accommodate their guests (2 & 4legged). When I arrived, I was greeted with friendly smiles and helpful hands that unloaded my tack, hay, grain, etc. I noticed that someone would come around periodically to make sure we were taken care of. True West was able to provide me with a stall with higher walls for my colt(a huge relief), and the campground offered wash bays with sturdy hitching post on a no-slip area. They also provided a round pen for their guests to use! What a wonderful commodity to offer ( especially for young, cold-backed,or hyper horses)! I found my campsite to be very roomy & CLEAN.It had its own firepit & picnic table! When I found time to make my way to the shower houses, I was greeted with a clean bathroom with heat/ac and my shower had amazing water pressure! (Did I mention this bathroom was clean? Probably the cleanest bathhouse I have ever been in at a campsite.) We LOOOOOOVED our stay at true west! Our only complaint was not getting to stay longer! This is our new favorite camping destination!
