This is in response to a review I just read about this facility and I just NEED to comment. I live in Jamestown so have stayed at True West only twice. Each time I was amazed at the things Shawn and Donna do to make their campers feel welcome and at home. At NO OTHER campground have I EVER had the owner (or anyone else) come unload my saddles, grain, hay, etc, help get the stalls ready with water buckets, etc., then clean out my trailer or offer to help me get my rig set up and level, if needed. On to the issue of a "long" barn" -- is there something that I'm missing here? I LIKE the fact that they can accommodate many horses with a WIDE aisle to allow horses on both sides to be cleaned and tacked up without interfering with, or causing a problem, for others. When the "young man" went to clean out the trailer and strip it, I personally would have hugged him, NOT complained about him "stripping" it. Really? How much does a new bag of shavings cost so you can haul your horses home in clean bedding? And I'm sure Shawn would have given you bedding if only you had asked. As for "moving" a picnic table because someone moved it in your spot - really? He did come help so WHY EVEN BRING IT UP? Sounds like "nit picking" to me! Maps? Yes, most campgrounds I've been to have them in B&W, not color. So what? Were you able to find a trail to ride without difficulty? And it depends on who was in the office at the time. Donna rides and knows the trails and I am certain she did not come across as being "bothered" by your questions. As for the horses not being in the camping area, I have personally had to clean up many a site because others were discourteous and left their horses' messes or had to fill in the holes that they pawed in the ground. Did you bother to explain to Shawn about your girlfriend having 13 screws put into her ankle? I'm thinking the answer to that question is most likely No. If you had your nice stable plastic one, would it not have made more sense to ask Shawn to bring it up to the front for you? And you choose to leave early due to the weather and you are now complaining that no one is helping you get all your stuff back where it belongs. Yikes woman, you are SPOILED and obviously have unrealistic expectations. AND the stall showers are too small? Wow! Good things that are mentioned are clean barns, stalls, safe environment, campgrounds are very clean (guess why? Because they don't let horses travel through them), showers and bath house are clean. And you feel the shower stalls are small - they're typical stall showers - how much room do you really need to shower? And the bottom line after all these positives is YOU WILL NOT GO BACK. And you say you're an "experienced" rider and are still not happy? Stay in GA Paula and leave TN to those that appreciate campground owners that go above and beyond.

Special people run this facility - stalls are bedded with sawdust prior to arrival, Shawn helps you unload your "stuff" and brings it into the barn for you, there's a gift shop and many events have pot luck meals, the trails are varied for all types of riders and you can go for either long or short rides and sometimes overnighters. If you want to ride, you can't go wrong here.

Living in Jamestown I don't do much camping - stayed at True West for the Hags with Nags ride - NEVER before has anyone (let alone 2 guys) been waiting at my trailer to help me unload horses, saddles, feed and anything else I wanted removed from the trailer. They loaded all into a cart and put it exactly where I wanted, filled my water buckets and asked if there was anything else I needed before they went and did the same thing for someone else. Nice campground, store and facilities - good food and fun evenings on the covered deck - chocolate fountain (YUM!!!), bingo for more chocolate - just the perfect weekend!
