Many Trails Closed! Riding is on property owned by the Ross Foundation which is doing active logging in several locations as well as undergrowth burning. Many of the trails are closed for logging, even parts of the main white trail. If your horse is not comfortable with dogs don't go. Numerous camp dogs around that will not stay in camp & scare the horses on the trail. Watch out for dogs in camp also. They will jump in your trailer while you are trying to enter the door. |

Have been trying all the campsites and riding trails in southern Illinois. Hayes Canyon is one of the friendliest place I have found. Very family oriented. The couple that owns the facility is very friendly and organized. The trail maps are easy to follow and the trails are very well maintained. The camp sites are fairly level and the pens had rubber mats so even in the rain they were great. Sites are large enough to fit even the big rigs. Would recommend Hayes Canyon. (Stay away from Bear Branch down the road!) |

Secure stalls for the horses and flat level sites for your trailer. Water & electric available. Great owners. Go out of their way to help in any way possible. |
