We were apprehensive just after we pulled into camp and was greeted by the owner jo jo, that’s right, jo jo and she matched her name. Had to park in the middle of a field, unlevel, running power through another camp. The trails were nice however; very confusing and rough went out for one half day ended up having to follow another group in 8 hours later. Due to the rude, strange, behavior of the owner and poor facilities in the camp, we will NOT be returning to High Knob . |

Nice trails, good sandy surface through most of the trails. Also, most of the trails are through wooded areas, so it's a nice cool place to ride in the summer. |

I have stayed with Mr. Clark twice now and I have to say that this is the best riding in the Southeast. Absolutely beautiful. Mr. Clark is an excellent camp host. In the 2 times I've been there, he called because we got a little heldup on the trails which was not his fault. Be sure to take saws, an ax and extra food incase of problems on the trail! We were held up by a tree for 4 hours--but we have a great story to tell! Saw a black bear and turkey which the horses didn't care one bit. It is a ride down the road to a trailhead which was not busy at all and we rode it twice in the dark. Did about 25 miles a day with 1 day of rest inbetween. The bathhouse was awsome for warm showers after we were done not to mention the fire he had going for us. The trailers he provides are adequate and I am very picky about what I let my horse ride in. He even has a turn out area for the horses to stretch out afterwards so they aren't cooped up in a stall after a hard ride. I prefer a campground with more privacy and not so out in the open but I had fun anyways. I will be back!!! |

Camped and rode there during peak leaf season. Beautiful ride. Trails are very wide and mostly gravel. Tons of trails. Had a lot of hikers. Camping was ok. Very basic. Bath house was nice. Will return! |

Great ride at Uwharrie--we will have many miles of trails to check out. Both our barefoot horses did fine. We never found any rocky trails but I think the more rocky trails are closed for renovation. The campground was great. Nice large level pads to park my trailer on. I never used the bathrooms so I can't comment on them. Love the electric hookups. Only complaint would be water--I wish each site had it's own water supply. Other than that, the place was great. |

Great place to ride, however, you MUST have shoes and you must watch for the mud bog on the blue trail. This is an incredibly dangerous area and I'm shocked that the parks department has not caution taped it off. If the ground begins to squish, start looking for switch backs through the woods. This happens in three different areas in close proximity on the blue Trail. You do not under any circumstances want to take your horses through this. I'm actually still reliving the horrid event, playing the "what-if's" in my mind. I never saw it coming and thought for sure I would lose my old girl right there. I will ride there again, and I will ride the blue trail again. However, this time I'll be prepared to avoid the death trap. Really and seriously, nice place, but shame on the people in charge of keeping these trails maintained for not marking that area. |

Absolutely awesome place to ride! We will definitely return. Trails were wide and well cleared. Muddy and wet in many places - but HELLOOO! We've had a lot of rain! My own barn yard is that wet! Creeks to cross were great with the exception of the one where the old rickety bridge used to be the trail - that is extra scary. Might be fine when the water is down and not rushing so hard. Day camp had potty, water, grill, picnic tables and shelter over them. Excellent trip!!!! |

These trails are nice if you aren't real concerned about maybe injuring your horse. I refuse to take my older mare there. Yes, it's all beautiful and maybe on a horse that I had no emotional attachment to, I could do it. There are much nicer places to ride that are safer for both horse and rider in my opinion. |

This place is great! Easy, clean and fun! No stress trails and a thoughtless ride if you are just looking for pure pleasure and relaxation. We usually ride through there twice to pick up 12 miles. Licking County OHC deserves a "good job" for this place!! |

Stone Church is always my "old favorite" and I've ridden there countless times. The new horseman's camp is spectacular and it's worth it to me to pay the $10.00 fee to use the camp even if just riding for the day. The old camp could use some entrance work - trailers drag pretty bad, and the parking situation could be better. However, when the old camp is mowed, it not bad at all. The trails and scenery at Stone Church are spectacular. It's habitually muddy and wet in some spots but even those spots are mostly effortless. My mare is aging and Stone Church is someplace I know I can take her that is safe for both of us and great exercise for her. She'll make 16 miles there just as easy at anything. If you are into history, check out the Stone Church ruins - read up on it first - it's very interesting. 100% endorsement from me @ Stone Church! |

I will not ride my horse here ever. I took a bunch of kids down and rented horses one weekend - I felt bad for the rented horse. Lots of steep up and down. |

We had another wonderful weekend at Croft. It snowed heavily Friday afternoon which was one of the most beautiful rides I've ever had. The trails vary greatly from beginner to expert and the campground is private. The only complaint is the barn is too far from the campground for my total comfort. The rangers also need to get better about checking coggins. Otherwise, I would recommend this park again and again. |

Have camped at Croft several times over the years but they have made wonderful improvements in the last year. Stalls are great even though a quarter of a mile away. Campground is quiet and I have never had any problems camping or with the horses staying here. Trails are very nice especially for gaited horses. Love the new trail opening. |

This was my first time to Lakeview. Wasn't too crazy about the pannels as we had to put them togeather for our horses after a 4 hour ride getting there but we managed. The bathhouse was great with plenty of hot water. I loved with trails with my gaited horses! Nice, wide and flat--was perfect for them. Well marked. Clean and nice facilities. Will go back. |

My husband and I spent a fantastic long weekend trail riding with Kristen and Matthew, owners, where they offered such great trail horses, I bought mine from them and took him home that weekend! They are excellent guides, we were safe, comfortable, enjoyed the ride in every way possible and I'd recommend them to anyone. Fantastic experience, we're planning on returning this October. |

Buffalo river trail ride is no where near what it use to be! Trails are washed away with NO signs of being fixed, no markings to help you stay on the "use to be" trails.The map does no good at all! Price was WAY TOO HIGH! 21.95 just for a day ride!!! Stalls were full of mud & muck, bugs flies & gnats were so bad you couldn't stand to be out there with some form of bug control. Buffalo was my first ever camping trip on horseback when i first started riding and it's very sad to see it in the state it is in now. |

Nice campground with stalls. Everything was very clean including the bath house. The only thing was they are very strict about dogs being on a leash which I can't blame them. Wonderful trails with beautiful views but very rocky. I booted my barefoot horse so his feet wouldnt' get sore. I did take my dog on the trails and her feet did get sore so I quit taking her. Up by the Scales are very large rocks. Had to take it slowly. Great trip overall. Just be prepared! |

We had a 4 day/3 night stay at HHE and had a wonderful time. The barn could not be better and the facilities/campground are so clean! The sites are well graveled and level. Camping next to the creek could not be better. I can't recommend this place enough! Everyone is very friendly. The trails are well marked and maps are provided. Make sure your horse is in shape! |
