This is the same place as Kiamchi Park Equestrian Trails. More info there
Super nice, multiple trails added within last year ( 2022) winding around the lake, well marked, maps are available on Facebook page. ( "Kiamichi Park Equestrian Friends").
Trails are easy, shoes not required, black soil with some loose rocks. Have bug spray handy before leaving the camp. Unless heading toward the lake, no water on the trail.
Hot and humid in the summers mid-days.
Reservations are on recreation.gov website, Kiamichi Park, R-1 through R-9 are sites at the horse area.
Camp site provides pens with water, camp sites are back into, some of them shorter and elevated, kind of tricky to pull in but not impossible.
NOTE: Unfortunately the camp side is closed for hunting season ( October 1 - January 15). |
