This a is great place to camp and ride. The trails are the best we have ever rode in Arkansas. The campground is very nice with nice pens and a lovely shower house. Charles and Theresa are number one for campground hosts. We cannot wait to go back. The rental rooms are very nice and very reasonably priced.

We loved the scenery but the trails are not marked good at all. We got lost and went from a 12 mile ride to a 28 mile ride and didn't get back until after dark. We had to call for help, (we didn't have a gps or compass), but all in all we had a good time and we are coming back this fall. The corrals are good if there is no rain, otherwise they are terrible. Our horses were standing in water and we had to go and buy shavings and clean them out. The bathrooms were clean and so was the camp. Friendly people to be around.

I have been going to MTR for 6 years now, we have met friends for life. The facility is second to none. Workers are super friendly and they have a store for all your needs. Prices are usual for a tack store. Entertainment every night is great, food could not be better!!! Trails are breathtaking and easy to ride on.

TRAILS WERE OLD ROADS THAT YOU COULD HAVE DROVE YOUR VEHICLE AROUND & NOT WELL MARKED. STALL WERE IN POOR SHAPE, WITH ONLY 1 BOARD TO HOLD YOUR HORSES IN. DON'T EXPECT TO GET STALLS TOGETHER, EVEN THOUGH THAT IS WHAT YOU PAID FOR. THEY EXPECTED US TO STALL OUR HORSES IN 2 SEPARATE BARNS. CAMP MANAGER SAID HE DID NOT CARE ABOUT THE HORSES & DID NOT WANT THEM THERE. THIS IS A CAMPGROUND MAINLY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE THERE FOR THE RIVER, NOT TRAILRIDING. BATHROOMS REMAINED FILTHY THE ENTIRE WEEKEND.

Gorgeous views, great fun. Lots of trails and experiences. Overnight or just for the day- it's so much fun! There are a variety of smooth, wide trails for the novice rider and also plenty of obstacles and excitement for the more experienced rider.

This park is a great place to start with your horse in the spring. Trails are wide and well kept, no strenuous hills. There's a pretty lake that it overlooks. Also, they have an outdoor arena that you can work your horse in if you aren't quite ready to hit the trails without first working your horse in a confined area. (Good for green horses who might be a bit nervous, to get them relaxed. Licking County does a great job maintaining this park. They do close the trails if it gets real muddy though, so the trails don't get messed up.

Trails were not marked very well - did not match with the maps - some of the pole markers were knocked down making it difficult. Trails were VERY muddy in several places - on the trail off Old Rt. 50 and further in you could see where the flooding has been. But the trails were beautiful and there were even rest areas along the way. We stayed at Lazy H Cabins down the road on Old Rt. 50 and they were heaven! Bathrooms and air conditioning and stalls for the horses!! We will return to ride the trails again!!

J-D Trail Riding Camp, near Smithville, OK

This was my first experience at J-D's, there were 12 in our group and we all had a great time. The trails challenged all riding levels and the scenary met all of our expectations. The campground is just big enough to accomodate enough campers to keep it interesting without becoming overcrowded. The facilties were immaculate and the campgrounds were well kept. Our hosts were always at hand to answer questions, guide us down the trail or help out with a sick horse. The hard work put into keeping this campground running smoothly was very much appreciated and speaks volumes about thier commitment to providing a safe and asthetically nice facility to enjoy the Kiamichi mountains. Definately a place to revisit.

The government is only going to allow designated trails for a total of 25 miles of riding and shutting off the national forest so I am afraid this will hurt the riding here. There are no maps of trails as of yet. the place sets down in and is wet alot especially when it rains...gets muddy. Needs better drainage. some of the campers are nice.

Well we just returned from THE BEST RIDE YET~~!! We spent 9 days at Circle E, and will return for more. The Trails was GREAT, gorgeous views of the bluffs, mountains, and rock formations, and don't forget to also go to the Walls of Jerrico to. The food and staff was EXCELLANT, never had any problems, everything was very clean and the staff done a great job with the 350plus people that was there. The highlight of the ride was the ladies ride/"Tea Party", all the ladies that made it happen done a great job with everything. I suggest everyone should try Circle E~!!

Some of the prettiest mountain riding we have ever done. The camp host kept the bathroom very clean and he was very nice and helpful. I would not advise to go any sooner than the first of July. Mid July or later would probably be even better due to the snow melt and the river.
