Just got back from my first trip to Seven Springs. We took a young horse to expose him to mountain type riding and we were not disappointed. We ride the smoky mountains and it
is as close as you can get without being there. From hills, steep climbs, descents, rocks,wide roads to narrow knee knockers. They have it all.
Absolutely loved the one of a kind Rattlesnake saloon. One great place to see and eat at!Didn't much care for the two rattlesnakes on the trail, one almost got one of our
horses, but hey, it's rocky and wilderness, you got snakes. The scenery was amazing,
especially the vew from mountain top. You can ride horses into Bee Hive,and Waterfall
cave.The most amazing rock formation is Wave Rock. It looks just like the front of a huge ship with waves crashing on its bow. Someone had posted the stalls were dangersous and small. My quarter house is 16 hands and he laid down every night.There are no
rocks in the stalls. Ocassionaly if you dig down far enough stones might come up but they are not lined with gravel. There are 6 barns of covered stalls, over 70 campsites.
The only downfall was there are only 12-14 full hook up sites and no designated dump station, you have to use an empty full hook up to dump out. So, you don't have shade trees, you trade it for some amazing trails. Everyone was very kind. Both of my horses threw shoes and she had a farrier there in less than 2 hrs. I absolutely plan on going
back!

Just came back from my first visit to Coldwater. Absolutely loved it will go back this spring. Great place to take young horses. Trails are fabulous!! Wide, sandy,well marked and maintained. Can't say enough good things. Some of the trails are sparse or have no water at all. So I know I wouldn't come in the heat of the summer. Campgrounds are tops.
The barn stalls have been enlarged. Very roomy. My big 16 hand quarter horse laid down every night. He was very comfortable there and we have no barn at our farm so it was unusual for him to lay down. Some things they could improve is to mark where you go to check in at the entry. If it is your first time go all the way past the first dump station and stop. You will see the office sign on the building to your right. 2nd thing is without sewer hook ups it would be nice if there were at least porta pottys at the camp grounds. It is a very long walk to the bath house. If they would divide the turn out pen into two then more than just a few horses at a time could go out. Somethimes we had to wait 2 days before our horses could get a spot to go out and roll around. The staff was SUPER FRIENDLY and helpful. Found out that most of the help are volunteers.
Wish they would have such a program here in Georgia. This is one of the best campground I have been to. Can't wait to go back next spring |

I live within an hour drive from this park and the reason I haven't been going is because of the previous owners of the stables. A new owner is there now and is very
accomidating. He even loaned his personal generator to two of my friends. He has put up
high line poles at the primitive camp and from what I understand is in the process of
trying to get water and electric hook ups installed. Hopefully with those plans maybe a bath house and or dump station. He is also fixing that old barn up, taking out all thos
old nasty wooden feed bins etc. The trails are not for unconditioned horses but they are
great for tuning up your mountain horses. My friends live in the flat lands and their horses got through the trails just fine. It is rocky, you will need shoes on your horses.
You used to not be able to keep your horses at the camp and it was for day riding only and you were not allowed to stay there overnight. That is all changed now. Currently there is room for about 8 - 10 trailers. I will be going back more often now that there are new owners, the previous ones were to say it politely , not very welcoming. Hope the campground continues to improve and much luck to the new onwers! |

This year was our 5th ride at Mr. CLarks. He is the nicest person you will ever want to be aquainted with. Was raised right were he lives. His mother still lives there in the log house of their homestead. The camp is well kept, clean and all the comforts of home. There is a bathhouse, dump station, free fire wood. A wash station for the horses. He supplies wheelbarrows and rakes for the stalls, fire rings and free trailer use if you want to take one off to another trial head. The best trails anywhere!!!!. If you don't know about the trail you pick ask James or his son Jamie if he happens to be in camp. They know every inch of those hills. From steep and challenging, to long wide roads there is something for everyone. Your horse needs to be broke and shod. Lots and lots of water. There are some higher trails with very little water, Thomas Divide is one.
The scenery is without a doubt some of the most beautiful in the United States. I have ridden the Bob Marshal wilderness in Montana, which has a breathtaking beauty of its own and this is the closest thing to it you will find and the rates are so reasonable!
Just 10.oo a night per stall and 10.oo per night per campsite.Only 1 mile to the closest trail head and others an easy drive. If you want, James will drop you off and pick you back up. If it is your first trip I recommend not going out alone. If you make arrangements ahead of time James or Jamie will be glad to guide you on a ride. We go twice a year and it is never the same twice. Best place hands down!!!! |

We've spent many weekends with Pat & Jacque from the beginning. Every year they add more great amenities to the camp and they're always great fun! The trails at Blue Rock vary but, most riders can find something to enjoy. |
