Trail Description: The trails in the Charles Deam Wilderness area as well as those in the adjacent Hoosier National Forest are well maintained mostly single track through the mixed hardwood and pine forest. Many of the trails had gravel overlay which created excellent footing. It's great for gaited horse riders as you have many miles of excellent trails to gait.

There are two public campgrounds which are managed by the Forest Service and several private campgrounds adjacent to the forest. The Midwest Trail Ride campground offers both scheduled weeks (advertized in Trail Rider Mag) and individual camping with stalls for your horses. Circle S also has stalls or you can picket your horses. In the public campgrounds horses must be picketed or tied to tie-rails. Circle S and Midwest offer electric and water hook-ups. There is no human water, and check on horse water at the public campgrounds.
