Trail Description: The “PICCOLA RAIEDA” farm holiday estate is specialised in horseback tours lasting from two hours to several days and led by qualified FITETREC-ANTE guides (Italian Federation of Equestrian Tourism). The shorter rides are planned on the basis of the riders’ level of expertise and take place inside the “Riserva Naturale del Contrafforte Pliocenico” (Natural Reserve of the Pliocene Spur), amid uncontaminated woods, rivers, streams, old farmhouses and breathtaking landscapes; encounters with wild animals, including different native species of deer and boars, are practically an everyday occurrence.Treks are planned out over a several-day period, with distances of 15-20 km travelled per day and 4-6 hours in the saddle. They include a stop for a brown bag lunch and visits to sanctuaries, castles and regional parks.Overnight lodging is arranged for equestrian guests in accommodations equipped with all amenities, where they will be served dinners prepared according to genuine Emilian tradition. For less experienced riders, or those who wish to refresh their horse riding skills before undertaking an adventure, there is nothing better than the enjoyable lessons in the riding stable. For all of these activities guests will always have at their disposal the horses owned by the estate, which are reliable, well looked after and suited to all levels of riding experience. If, however, you’d like to bring your own horse, get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to organise a holiday on our farm estate for you and your four-legged companion. EXAMPLES OF RIDING TREKS: On Horseback in the Monte Sole Regional Park (2 days); On horseback on the high Appennino bolognese:"Ancient christian and heathen places from the Via dei Santuari to Flaminia minor" (4 days). During the treks overnight lodging will be provided in farmhouses or farm holiday estates, where breakfast and dinner will also be served; unless different arrangements are made, lunches will be “brown bag”.
Usually no campgrounds but overnight in our or other farmhouses.PICCOLA RAIEDA is a typical farmhouse of the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia, nestled amidst green pastures and centuries’ old woods. It is situated at an altitude of 500 metres, inside the uncontaminated natural reserve of the “Contrafforte Pliocenico” (Pliocene Spur), just 20 minutes away from Bologna and 40 minutes from Florence. In our 10 hectares of land we rear horses and poultry and we grow herbs, vegetables and woodland berries. We are specialised in horse riding holidays, hiking and mountain biking: to our guests we can propose itineraries ranging from one hour to several days. For guests who wish to bring their own horse with them, large sheltered paddocks are available. Other guests have at their disposal the horses provided by the estate itself, which are dependable, well looked after and suited to all levels of riding experience. For mountain-bike enthusiasts we provide bike storage facilities or the option of using mountain bikes provided by the estate. PICCOLA RAIEDA also offers an opportunity to engage in other sports activities such as rock climbing – on the famous climbing walls of Rocca di Badolo, only 2 kilometres away from the estate – and recreational fishing in our own lake.Special areas for relaxing are also provided for those who during a nature holiday simply seek rest and the pleasure of "doing nothing", a chance to take walks, enjoy bird watching and read a good book. But PICCOLA RAIEDA also offers the finest hospitality with accommodations for up to 12 persons, including two comfortable double rooms with bath and two spacious two-roomed apartments with kitchen and bath.At PICCOLA RAIEDA you will also find home-style cuisine, in the most rigorous Emilian tradition, served in the old stone cowshed with fireplace, now converted into a dining room for guests.
