Trail Description: There is a combination of Forest Service roads (most are closed to vehicles) and single track trails through mountainous terrain with scenic riding along mountain streams and ridgetop views. For the most part the trails are not steep but there is significant elevation change, especially on the longer loops. Shoes (or boots) are a must as there are stretches that are very rocky and others where crushed rock is used to provide solid footing. The trails are not well marked so a map (Natl Geographic has a topo map #782) and GPS are highly recommended.
Primitive camping on level crushed rock pads. If you have a large rig you should ask for sites 6,8,10,11,12,or 14. The other sites are quite small. There are four tie stalls with mangers at each site for your horses. There is a watering trough for horses and a hand pump they say is for humans only, but I wouldn't drink the water from it because it contains an excessive amount of silt. In other words, plan on bringing your own water, at least to drink.
