Trail Description: Grand Mesa National Forest - Silver Spruce Trail is accessed by trails starting at private land heading through forest. Many other trails. Trails are from beginner to expert and from short to all day. Bring your horse to ride or hike trails through the Aspens around Vega Reservoir or Grand Mesa. Breathtaking country at 7,500 to 10,000 foot elevations. Numerous lakes, streams and beaver ponds for fishing.
Just above Vega Reservoir, this private land facility of 240 acres offers heated cabins to rent, corrals for your horses and adjoins the north side of the Grand Mesa National Forest. Trails go through private ground then connect with Forest Service Trails. It is an easy road access for trucks with trailers. Plenty of parking. Call (970) 487-3731 for reservations. High Mountain Rustic Cabins with stove, heat, lights and bunks: $60/2, $80/4, $100/6. Groups welcome at Base Cabin, sleeps up to 10, LR, DR, FP, Full Kitchen, bath/shower and deck, starts at $100 per night.
