Trail Description Direct access to Va Highland Horse Trail...trails range from easy to challenging. Some trails are rocky with multiple creek crossings. Shoes are recommended.

Campground Lost Creek Ranch is an exclusive, private horse retreat for horse people that want a quiet place to relax and ride the pristine sections of the Highland Trail. We are at the midpoint of the Va Highland Horse Trail between the New River and Mt. Rogers. We have 1 and 2 bedroom full lodging and ONLY 4 very private campsites with water and a/c. Two large barns with roomy, safe 12 x 12 stalls. Seasonal site leases available.

Directions From Wytheville, take 81 south to Rural Retreat exit.# 60. Take a left at the end of the ramp and go 9 miles to Crigger Rd. Go all the way to the end of Crigger. Take a right onto Dry Rd..go 100 ft and take a left onto Saddleback Drive. Go to the end...we are at the end of the road up against the National Forest at the base of the mountain.

 More Difficult (Moderate hills over consistent surface; possibly some narrow trails and short steeper slopes) 
 Rigorous (Easy to More Difficult for rider but physically challenging for horse such as on a level surface through deep sand) 
 Challenging (Possible rocky, uneven surface, steep slopes, uncleared trails, faster flowing streams and other obstacles that lead to more difficult riding for rider and horse)
