| Trail Description |
FREE! to ride and camp. Trails are wide enough to ride side by side. Mostly shaded, camp gounds are primitive and well shaded can accomidate about 10 trailers at each camp ground. Trails are nice rolling with some good climbs. Trails connect to each camp. |

Oakmulgee is the western district of Talladega National Forest and is between Centerville and Maplesville, AL. Oakmulgee National Forest offers 2 campgrounds with primitive horse camping. Maddox Hunters Camp & Mud Cut Horse camp. Maddox Hunters camp can also be used by equestrians as well during non hunting season. There is no fee to ride or camp. But we request that you pack out all of your trash and leave no fires burning when you leave. |

From Clanton, AL take hwy 22 to Maplesville, left at caution light in Maplesville and continue on hwy 22. Travel about 1 mile then turn west on hwy 82 towards Centerville, AL. Travel about 5-7 miles, left on hwy 183 towards Marion. Travel about 1 mile, left on county road 307. This road will eventually turn into a dirt forest road 418. Stay on it (3 miles until you see a yellow caution sign that says, "NARROW ROAD" (it will curve to the left and turn into a stop/fork. Forest road 418 continues to the right, follow it to the right and Maddox Hunters camp is down on the right 1 mile. This camp can also be used during the non hunting season.
MUD CUT horse camp- directions-From Clanton, AL take hwy 22 towards Maplesville. Turn left at caution light in Maplesville and continue on Hwy 22 towards Selma. Once out of Mapelsville travel just a few miles and turn right on co road 313, right on county road 307, (also may say forest road 426), left left on co road 304 or it may say forest rd 421. Mud Cut camp will be down on the left. |
