Trail Description |
The actual trails which are marked for horses are wide and sandy. In summer, be sure to wear plenty of fly spray, because the flies really like the sandy areas. Head out into the foot trails and you enter a whole different world. Narrow, winding, and not many flies at all!! Of course, horses are not allowed, but, "Horses can't read". The foot trail that leads south from Tillis Hill will take you past ancient oaks, old growth loblolly & longleaf pines, sand pines, and past a rather large ravine on the south side of County Road 480, which the trail crosses. You will end up going around an old, very historic cemetary and pond, both named Stage Pond. You can also park your trailer on the side of the road at Stage Pond cemetery and ride the road into a tunnel of old oaks and around the perimeter of the pond. Awesome ride!! Highly recommended for those who want to see the "Real Florida" and all it's critters. |
