Trail Description On the west shore of Joe Pool Lake, Loyd Park covers about 791 acres of native Texas landscape. Centrally located, camping at Loyd Park is conviniently close to the major DFW attractions. In a peaceful tree filled setting right on the lake. Individual campsite sizes are large (avg 1000 sq ft.) and each one has a picnic table and pavilion, grill, fire ring, and more Texas tranquility than you can handle! Loyd Park has six miles of multi-use trails. The main trail, Walnut Creek, can be used for for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The trails are relatively easy. The trails are very easy, well manicured and very safe. Although they are short, they are interesting and well shaded and wind around a lot. There is also a nice wide maintenance road on one side good for nice gallops. There is a bridge but it short and covered with a rubber mat so horses don't slip. Even though short, I highly recommend these trails.
