Trail Description |
Nice variety of single path trails and forest service roads. Some of the trails have very rocky sections. Trail intersections are marked with posts with location numbers. You need a trail map which you get from the State Forest Service District office. |

Campground |
One campground for horses, really a large parking area with picket posts, is near the intersection of Teaberry and Cold Spring roads, south of US 30. The Forest Service District office may try to send you to the Big Flat Parking Lot, which is 7 or 8 miles north of US 30. I don't know why they send horse campers to Big Flat as it is the primary ATV trailhead and campground; and the horse trails are south of US 30. I guess the people in the district office don't know the difference between ATVs and horses (?). Note that there is NO water at the trail head so you must bring your own. Also, there are no streams close by to water your horses in so you need to bring horse water also. |

Directions |
Michaux is about halfway between Chambersburg and Gettysburg off US 30. To get to the horse trail head and campground, take SR 233 south from US30 about 3 miles. Turn left on Cold Spring Road (where 233 makes a sharp right); go about 3 miles past Newman Road and Three Springs Rd. The trail head is on your left at Teaberry Rd. You will need to contact the Forest Service to register (no charge) and they will send you maps. |
