| Trail Description |
The trails out of camp are easily accessible and easy to follow. Do not attempt to ride in this area without a map. Obtain a map before entering forest. Headquarters is a long way from this camp. You can obtain one by internet of Mount Rogers Area, or buy one at an outfitters in Whytheville. The camp has tie posts, large camp areas, firerings, tables, water, stream, and porta pottys at this time. Although there are free sites we stayed in the camp area for $5 a night, its worth it for the gravel. no worries about getting stuck. The trails range from 2 to 6 hours out of this camp. The terrain is rocky in spots. Not for the inexperienced horse or trail person. Do not learn the hard way. Be prepared for the unexpected. The views range from rhodedendrons to fir trees too big to get 2 peoples arms around. Running streams. Ridgeline rides. A good stay I will return. This is a new campground. There are free sites along the road ,no gravel, no toilets. |

| Directions |
161/2 miles southeast of Whytheville Va. From I-81 south take exit 67,70,72 at Whytheville onto us 11 (main street). On the west end of town us 11 turns off and Main Street becomes us 21 south. Follow us 21 south for approximately 141/2 miles to forest road 14(about 3 miles south of of speedwell). Turn left on gravel road fs14 and follow it east about 2 miles to campground. |
