| Trail Description |
Trails cover much of the entire San Pedro Parks system and includes the recently developed and much touted Continental Divide Trail. Trails wander through Pines,Oaks,and high elevation Aspens. Wildlife includes deer and elk. At the higher elevations, open grassy areas known as "Vegas" are park-like settings perfect for an afternoon lunch stop. Hence, the name San Pedro Parks. |

| Campground |
Wide open, fairly level grassy area with easy access surrounded by Pine trees. Horse stream in middle of campground, but bring potable water. Port-a-potties scattered
through-out (5) and are clean. Forest Service allows high-lining or portable corrals. There is one small corral. Trailheads (2) right in campground include Corralitos and Vega Redonda. Close by is the Rio Puerco trailhead. Be sure to read the signs posted near the trailheads. |

From Santa Fe, Hwy 84/285 north towards Chama. At junction in Chili, (not marked) continue on 84 north (do not take 285!) Go through the town of Abiquiu and after approx 5 mi. you will come to Hwy 96. Go left on hwy 96 for about 20 miles. Just after the town of Coyote you will come to a sign that says "fuelwood Area" and 172. Turn left there onto a partially paved road with a cattle guard. After the cattle guard go 1/2 mi. and at the "Y" bear right. It will say Resumidero, road 172, and fuelwood. Go about 4 mi. to a "t" in the road, turn left, and continue on. You are now on road 103. After another 2 miles, 62 will come in on your left, ignore, stay on 103, a sign will say "rio Puerco" Another 1/2
mi. brings you to another fork, take right uphill fork as this is the main road, continue on for anonther 1-1/2 miles to another fork. Go slow here this turn is easy to miss. Turn right at this fork #93(uphill) and
look for an old sign "resumidero" continue up #93 for 3 miles until you come to Campground. There are two entrances, but they are not connected.
First entrance will be you to Corralitos trailhead and second entrance
1/16 mi, will put you closer to Vega Redonda traihead. Both are in view of each other but separated by the stream and a wooden fence. Stream is
crossable by the pedestrian bridge or by horseback. |
