Trail Description |
Very scenic riding over a variety of terrain on mostly groomed single path trails and Forest Service roads. While Hungry Horse provides a local map, the trails aren't well marked. I would strongly recommend that you have a "Trails Illustrated" map produced by the National Geographic, and avaliable from the Mt. Rogers National Recreation Area or National Geographic (map 796). |
Best Time to Visit |
Spring, summer, fall. There are a lot of rhodedendron and it would be spectacular if you could be there when they bloom |
Times to Avoid |
You must have reservations at this camp. They are often booked solid in the summer. |
Campground |
Very well maintained campground nestled back from the highway among pine and maple trees. Horses are required to be kept in stalls. The overall cleanliness and feel is of a class A campground. |
