| Trail Description |
Smokey Mountain National Park. Trails are well maintained by park service but realize these are mountain trails. Horses should be well broke, in good condition, and shod all the way around. The scenery is lush and green, a lot of creek crossings with great views when you get up high. Trail difficulty is hard to describe. Most trails start out easy and become more strenuous the further into the back country you get.We have ridden a lot of places in the united states and this is one place we continue to go back.What this end of the park has that you can't find any where else in the smokies is loop trails. With access to 3 trail heads really close to camp and others a little further away you can easily ride for a week and never travel the same trail twice. James is also happy to help with drop camps or shuttling you with your horse to a distant trail head. |

Campground is pretty basic with all the amenities you need. Nice bath house, covered stalls, water, electric, dump station, firewood, free trailer rental. James is a great host,he knows horses and he knows the trails. He has 3 horse trailers free for his guest to use because he is in a few minutes drive of 3 good national park trail heads. On this side of the park there is no camp public or private with direct trail access.
We have stayed at several horse camps in the smokies and james horse camp blows them all away. |
