Trail Description |
Open jeep trail at least 4' wide. Moderate but long grades, clay soils with moderate amount of rocks. There are at least 8 miles of trails open, but more are under development. The Ridge Trail runs from the top of the mountain down to Wyatt Rd. with a major loop about a third of the way. There is also a road down to an old home site at the Wyatt Rd end and addition trail beyond that. If you start at the top, it will be all uphill going back. There is a large parking lot under construction at the back entrance which should be open this summer (2006). Friends of Rendezvous Mountain, a non-profit, is supporting this state forest through fund raising and work parties. http://www.friendsofrendezvous.org
The goal is over 50 miles of trails with overnight camping available. If you want more trails in NW NC, please visit our website. |
